I visited Thailand years ago and fell in love with Phuket. It is such an inspiring place to work, and throughout my time here I’ve come across so many smart and creative people. I’m really excited to have an office in Rawai, because I truly see Phuket as a future hub for companies in the tech space, and hope to be the first of many digital companies to launch operations here.

Finally, you have been an expatriate in Phuket for a long time; tell us one thing you absolutely love with the island, and one thing you wish could be changed or improved.

I love the people in Phuket and the inspiring surroundings. There are so many great things about this part of Thailand that it’s hard to see any downsides.

What time is it?

While most office and government buildings use a 24 hours system to tell what time it is, things are quite different when asking in general conversation. Thai people have divided the clock in five different sections: Dtee (ตี) to express time between 1:00am and 5:00am, Mong Chao (โมงเช้า) to express time in the mornings, Bai (บ ่ าย) when it is the afternoon, Mong Yen (โมงเย็น) to express time in the evenings, and finally, Toom (ทุ ่ ม) from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. For example, to say it is five o’clock in the evening, you would say Haa Mong Yen (ห้าโมงเย็น) [five hours evening]. 8:00pm would be Song Toom (สองทุ ่ ม), or 2 hours in the Toom section of time.
