Commissioned by the municipality of Corsico, a small town in the south-eastern suburbs of Milan, the competition is about the realization of a museum of water and energy and its park, in a former industrial area, strait between the Copernico neighborhoods and the city center. The project consists in creating a linear park, connecting the unrelated parts of the city, where the halls of the museum can take place. The design of the principal halls of the museum follows the interpenetration with outdoor spaces, while the secondary pavilions have a symbolic rounded, ovoidal shape, working with the visit paths to achieve a natural and armonic sense of moving. The arrangement of the trees has been designed in order to protect the area from the presence along the northern border of the railroad tracks, and to densify and enhance biodiversity and natural ecology in the center of the park. The dseign of the open spaces and the urban furnitures, as well as the wooded glades, follow the architectural shapes.

The urban redevelopment of the seafront starts with the construction of a eco/museum system map, that is born with the individuation of the principal points of interest. These points are signed with the individuation of link-paths that, like sort of propellers, turn on the areas with historical and cultural excellence, form all over the bay and wetlands of Poetto-Saline-Stagno di Molentargius and activate other areas waiting for showing their potential. The Poetto Project has been made like a first engine fragment of a new relational network and site evolution in continuity with its past meaning. Interventions aimed at the rehabilitation of Waterfront Poetto, with as principal aim the restoring of the dune belt along the beach, with functions of anti-erosion, and also to consolidate it with a green band consisting of palm trees. This helps to ensure continuity between the green forest S.Elia and Pinewood Quartu, also taking shape as a landscaped relief.

The project for the new BHNS line (interurban bus line), involves the relocation of the entire road section of the main course, involved by the passage of the bus line, which is currently not sufficient to support the vehicle and pedestrian traffic conceivable for the area in question. The road section is redrawn as a multifunctional space, hosting lanes for traffic of cars and buses, bike lanes and pedestrian trails, and numerous green bands of mitigation, with big trees, alternating with shrubby compositions, constituting a “constructive topos “ for the new urban landscape along the sidewalks. All this is interspersed with rest areas equipped for activities and temporary events, as well as for recreation of citizens, divided along both sides of the road section, and marked by a colored pavement. The square is designed as a shared space completely permeable to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, in contrast with the old intended use as a big roundabout.

The project for the residence of Edi Rama develope itself around both the architectural project and the landscape context. A sinuous path cross the hill, from the upper level of the house to the lower level corresponding to the road, accompanied by a mitigation plant stripe with mainly use of gramineae. On the western border, the amplification of the native woods is combined with the creation of an orchard, like in the south side part of the hill near the road. The uniform ascent of the hill is broken with the insertion of the terraces, partly intended for vegetable gardens, defined by broken lines, in contrast with the elliptical and ovoid architectural shapes of the house. Inside of the inner courtyards of the residence, rounded grass lawn represent an intimate garden inspired by the wild nature of the exterior, which leaves its mark in the olive trees that dominate the center of the flower beds.

The design strategy promoted is based on the conception of the castle as the centerpiece of a larger system of public spaces, which includes, in a single project, the entire length of the island on which it stands and the River Olona, reflecting also in the southern isle, where there are abandoned farm buildings, recovered and used as receptive and information facilities. In organizing the layout of the project, a central role has the infrastructure connections with the core urbanized city and the park Castello, through the completion of the cycle and pedestrian paths. The functional division of the northern public areas concentrates in the structures of the castle and in its courtyard that relevant public functions of service and entertainment that can stimulate local interest in the historical pre-existence of the castle, established as the center of an extensive park expanded all over the island. The southern half of the island has been treated as a natural park, with minor interventions of accommodation, gravel paths and elevated boardwalks, whose intent is to encourage naturalistic enjoyment of the natural wildlife and vegetation typical of this plant territory. In parallel to the river Olona, a wooden walkway stands out as a powerful sign in the design of the open spaces of the island, considered as the primary mode of walking and use of green areas and, above all, the river itself, on which overlooks occasionally with projecting terraces used for the rest and the contemplation of the natural landscape and waterways.

The interventions of functional recovery and enhancement of the Park Ortolini with strengthening and diversification of services and facilities is part of the Strategic Plan for “Valle d’Itria”, and are aimed at the enhancement and use of ecological network which includes the near Forest of Pianelle. The urban park (about 75 hectares), built on the site of a former landfill adjacent to the village (the main entrance in Corso Messapia is about 1200 meters urbanized), is a real green lung for the inhabitants of Martina Franca. The design strategy wants to return identity and character to the Park Ortolini, from now on the “New Park Ortolini” through the definition of the image of the park, the memory of farming and livestock, the characterization of its spaces using art and materials of this valley, activating the connection with Martina Franca. The current park is located east of the town of Martina Franca, occupying a piece of land covered by vegetation partly spontaneous and partly purposely planted. The aim is to reinforce the system of fences and consolidate internal routes, to confirm (and improve) all the fundamental and inescapable (also economically) basic elemtns of the current park, and to renew, enhance and restore the currently unused and abandoned areas, including: the Masseria Ortolini, the connection to the west (towards Martina Franca) and the relation with the Forum Boario, the memory of agricultural and livestock, the playgrounds, the forests, the lawns and the Mediterranean landscape.

The international competition for the Bussa overpass driveway, concerned essentially the creation of a public space, where vehicular traffic is eliminated in favor of pedestrian and cycling main use, and where the competitors had to place different public spaces, as requested by the questionnaire (charrette) for the surrounding neighborhoods around the needs of the inhabitants, about kind of spaces and functions currently missing in the urban neighborhood. The project for the bridge and its links to the city is thought as a linear park, where different functions accompain the development of linear pedestrian and cycling ways, avenues that bend their way to make room for playgrounds, sport fileds, open squares for temporary events, concerts, exhibitions, and 2 main green areas. The two main green areas are designed as little hills (by gentle slope), where even big trees are placed to form woodlands where recreate a peaceful setting and a place for an intimate relax, and from whose slopes gaze at the urban skyline and the mountains that from bridge grow all around. (The hill also supports the planting of these plants, as if there had been raised with respect to the plane of the bridge, the space of the floor it would not be enough to accommodate the roots of plants). The two heads of the bridge gradually climb the difference in level with terraces, partially treated as flower beds, grass covers or planted areas. At the northern end, where there is more space at the ground level, there are the sport playground (football, pĂŠtanque field ) and the public squares for reading and relaxing in the green.

3. organize and promote cultural events and leisure activities, that is, to put at the disposal of the neighborhood, a place to organize meetings, parties for children and adults, exhibitions, outdoor cinema, cultural debates, concerts.

2. the development of the social function of the Garden: invite reality as non-profit organization and help centers for mental health to enjoy the garden as a place of work, commitment and rehabilitation for disadvantaged individuals and for the inclusion of.

1. the environmental restoration from urban residual space to its transformation into a public green space equipped through the recovery of the existing biodiversity.

The Community Garden Lea Garofalo is run by ‘Giardini in Transito’ (GiT) , a non-profit association that takes care of the garden, courtesy the municipality of Milan by the Convention ‘Shared Gardens’. Destined place since the war to be space for circuses, the Garden was in fact considered a non-place and as such anyone, repeatedly treated as landfill. The change of mind about the construction of a parking lot(that was on the project of the City Council ), also thanks to the pressure exerted by GIT, and along with environmental and architectural constraints, has meant that the Garden remained no man’s land and place of accommodation of homeless people. GiT, took over the management of the Garden, by cleansing, building infrastructures and gardens, and opened it to citizenship in 2011. The lines along which it performs the management activities are:
