FUN FACTS π=3.141592653589... Each year on March 14th at 1:59 pm many math and science classrooms around the world break from their usual routines to observe the festivities of “Pi Day”. Pi Day commemorates the first few digits of one of the oldest know constants, 3.14159…. and it also happens to coincide with Albert Einstein’s birthday - which makes it a doubly cool day for math enthusiasts.
Whether or not you’re a math enthusiest, you’ll enjoy celebrating this irrational holiday and whatever you do, don’t be afraid to express your inner geek!

On March 2, 1904 Theodore Seuss Geisel was born in Springfield Massachusetts. Known by his pen name, Dr. Seuss, Geisel wrote and published almost 50 childrens books. At the time of his death on September 24, 1991, some 200 million copies of his books had found their way into homes and hearts around the world. On the 2nd of March, in honor of Dr. Seuss, the NEA is sponsoring “Read Across America,” a program that focuses on motivating children to read. So whether you like to eat green eggs and ham or not, this March take time out to read with a child.
St. Patrick’s Day, which is observed on the 17th of March by people around the world, is a day to celebrate the life of St. Patrick and the culture of Ireland. The St. Patrick’s Day custom came to America in 1737, when it was publicly celebrated in Boston. Even if your family has not a wee smidgen of Irish heritage, it’s great fun to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by donning your green. March 17, 2020 March 8, 2020 at 2am Daylight Savings Time in the U.S. starts on the second Sunday in March of each year and ends the first Sunday in November of each year. When it goes into effect each spring, clocks are moved forward by one hour at 2:00 AM standard time, and the time becomes 3:00 AM daylight savings time (DST). The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time is to make better use of daylight.
