Experience the Beauty You Never Imagined Though it is an island, Hilton Head’s ability to attract tourists is boundless. Hilton Head is an amazing place where visitors are never disappointed. It has something to offer for all people of all ages. Whether you are an adventurist or a man with family, everyone will love spending their valuable time here.

Hilton Head has several gems and treasures to offer its visitors; but the best gem in its box of jewels is the rich Gullah Geechee culture. This centuries old African heritage has been successfully preserved by the island natives. The Gullah people are the descendents of enslaved Africans who continue to carry on their forefather’s traditions and culture, which has been unaffected by the fast moving world outside the island. The Gullah are the one and only tribe to successfully maintain their West African cultural heritage. These traditions live on in the form of language, agriculture, and spirituality. Therefore, those who want to experience the authentic flavors of this age old culture must visit this place once in their lifetime. Other than cultural heritage, Hilton Head also prides itself on its diverse range of wildlife. From birds to crocodiles, the island is heaven for photographers and animal lovers. People planning a family vacation may be still wondering if Hilton Head can keep kids entertained and seniors happy. Here is a list of things to do in Hilton Head, which may be enough to pacify your doubts.

Climb the lighthouse: The Harbor Town Lighthouse and Museum is just like the lighthouses you have seen in Mickey Mouse cartoons. Unlike the cartoons, this lighthouse allows you to explore the rich history of the island, and view valuable artifacts from the nineteenth century civil war. Once you reach the top, you will find an exotic view of the island and the sea, leaving you feeling refreshed. Coastal Discovery Museum: Visiting this place is a must. Your kids will love to explore, learn, and better understand the past and present of the Low Country. It is one of the oldest buildings on the island, and has one of the oldest oak trees as well. Pinckney Gardens National Wildlife Reserve: Here you can find almost 250 species of birds, white tailed deer, bobcats, red foxes, and also the oldest inhabitants of this island, the American alligators. Coligny Beach Park: This is the busiest beach on this island. It is very popular among tourists due to the wide range of amenities and mouth watering food that is available. Sea Pines Forest Preserve: Though it is not far from the busy Coligny Beach, the ambience of the preserve is drastically different and calm. It consists of a mysterious forest, filled with secluded lakes and dark, crocodile infested swamps. You can also see the ruins of the nomadic Indians that lived centuries ago. It has a ceremonial plaza, other traces of an abandoned village, and more.

The list of things to do is long and never ending. To fully learn everything, you have to plan a vacation and devote some time to the extraordinary island of Hilton Head. For more Information visit us at Gullaheritage.com.
