GunBroker.com is a marketplace for buying, selling, and auctioning firearms across the country. If you are looking for unusual and famous pistols for sale, whether it is famous from a TV show like the Mare’s Leg or famous in the firearms community for having interesting operating mechanisms, GunBroker.com should be your first stop.

Mare’s Leg Originally made famous by Steve McQueen, the Mare’s Leg was a shortened rifle. Now, it is a generic term for a Winchester Model 1892, or modern equivalents, that has a shortened barrel and stock. Since 2005, however, manufacturers started producing the Mare’s Leg as a pistol instead of a shortened rifle for legal reasons. They are found in a variety of calibers, such as 45 Colt and 44 Magnum. LWRC SMG 45 The LWRC SMG 45 was hotly anticipated on its release as a new alternative to other 45 ACP pistols, such as the Kriss Vector and the UMP. What made it interesting, unusual, and famous in the firearms community was the proprietary short recoil/delayed blowback system, which causes the entire barrel to move back and forth within the receiver after firing each shot. After consulting shooters, LWRC combined ergonomics with a compact, lightweight package. It accepts UMP mags, perfect for the 45 ACP carbine enthusiast.

DoubleTap Derringer While the average derringer by itself is a bit unusual in that it occupies a space between revolver and semi-automatic, DoubleTap derringers have taken the old designs into the modern era. Production started in 2012 by DoubleTap Defense, they are modern, hammer-less, doubleaction, double-barreled derringer pistols chambered in 9mm or 45 ACP, larger calibers than the typical derringer. Two extra rounds are held in the grip in a speed loader, inspired by the WWII derringer, the FP 45 Liberator. The S333 Thunderstruck The Standard Manufacturing S333 Thunderstruck is a highly interesting pistol in that it was almost considered a machine gun, as it shoots more than one round per trigger pull. However, it was found that, unlike machine guns, it fired both bullets simultaneously instead of sequentially. This makes it classified as a volley gun. Chambered in 22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire and holding eight rounds, the revolver is meant for concealed carry.
