Find the Right 1911 for You on GunBroker.com One of the most enduring firearms platforms is the venerated 1911. Still in frequent use more than a century after it was introduced by famed gun designer John Browning, these guns are available from a variety of manufacturers in many different forms. Whether you are looking for new or used guns for sale or at auction, take a look at the 1911. No matter what level of 1911 you are looking for, there is something for everyone, from beginner to competition shooter. Here are some of the 1911 models you might find on GunBroker.com.

Beginner: Rock Island Armory Rock Island Armory’s 1911 GI Midsize is a no-frills 1911 for someone who is new to the platform or wants something to toss around the range. Designed by Armscor and manufactured in the Phillippines, it is reliable and often called the best bang for the buck. While on the cheap end of 1911s, the RIA 1911 faithfully reproduces the government-issued 1911 of World War II. RIA offers a variety of 1911 models for this tier. A Step Up: Taurus 1911 The next level starts to see some customization added to the 1911. At this tier, you might find skeletonized triggers or hammers, and tolerances and fit are better. One example of this is the Taurus 1911. You can find versions that come with a matte black Magpul grip already installed, along with a Novak drift adjustable sight set, extended beavertail, and ambidextrous safeties. Other names to look for in this tier include the Remington R1 Enhanced and the Kimber Warrior.

The Custom: Les Baer Premier II Taurus makes other guns than the 1911. These are fine guns, but it means the company has other focuses. The next tier of 1911s are usually by companies that only make the platform, such as Les Baer. The Premier II comes out of the box with tolerances that are similar to having already been to a gunsmith, as they are essentially put together individually by gunsmiths in the factory. Les Baer even guarantees 3-inch groups at 50 yards. Other names in this tier include Dan Wesson 1911s and the Vickers Master Class. The Competition Shooter: Staccato 2011 The top level of 1911s is meant for competition. An interesting one is the Staccato 2011, with some of the models, such as XC, designed for competition shooters. The most expensive tier, these guns can be used for duty or concealed carry but excel at shooting flat for competition. These usually come with all the bells and whistles and may come with an optic or are drilled to accept an optic. Wilson Combat also produces top-tier 1911s that bridge the gap between the last two tiers. Whether you’re looking for your next 1911 or a revolver such as the Judge pistol, trust GunBroker.com.
