Gunnedah Shire is in the centre of the highly productive Liverpool Plains and supports a thriving agricultural sector including grains, cotton, large volumes of high-quality beef cattle and sheep. The area is also rich in coal and natural gas reserves and has further expansion planned for the future that will bring significant investment and job opportunities. We have developed a richly diverse local economy that supports our key industries, but also offers much more, with well-developed manufacturing, construction and food production industries, as well as a service sector that fulfils the needs of our more than 12,681 residents and the surrounding region. There are substantial opportunities for growth and investment within the Shire, with serviced and affordable industrial land available for development. We are attracting investment in renewable energy through solar farm developments and exploring bioenergy.
Our cotton and grains are being heavily invested in to increase and enhance processing capability, with our primary exports set to benefit greatly through the development of the Inland Rail corridor. Gunnedah Shire Council is committed to supporting and fostering new and existing businesses and we are investing heavily in our core infrastructure, as well as our highly regarded cattle saleyards, in support of the region’s beef industry and additionally seeking investor interest in a beef and lamb processing facility. The opportunities presented in Gunnedah are endless. In short, we are open for business and invite enquiries from business, industry and potential investors to see the future as brightly as we do. Join us in building the future Gunnedah, share in the wealth of our region and discover what it truly means to live, work and play in the place we call home.
