HİDROMEK A QUICK DESIGN PROCESS
SERPENTINE
S erpentine is a lighting design concept which has “ form follows function� in its geometrical shape presents innovative solutions. There is no materials like springs, bolts and other unesthetical parts, there are only three spheres on it. These spheres are Serpentine's joints and give enough angle to direct the light whereever we want.

Serpentine has been awarded as the best lighting design in IMMIB competition of Turkey in 2006. Its not only a conceptual project but

also prototyped successfully and ready to be manufactured.

H exabench is an outdoor living space project which I had designed in Milan after
a
research
multidisciplinary
collaboration international
with team
from all around the world such as USA, Italy,
Switzerland,
Ghana
and
Phillippines.
A fterwhile I had a chance to produce the set and applied to I-Deco Design exhibition as an individual contrubitor.
H exaBench gives another facet to indoor and outdoor spaces with its endless combinations. The system can be used in festivals, parks, waiting rooms, public and private areas with its dierent combinations for the dierent needs.
CONCEPT : DfA ( Design for All) The term of Design for All (DfA) is used to describe a design philosophy targeting the use of products, services and systems by as many people as possible without a need for adaptation. Subjective: Design or re-design of an object, or a particular area in the central park of Milan, Parco di Sempione. Aimed process of design and the scheme of “what to do” 1. Collect information about the park. 2. Exploration and analyze of the enviroment. 3. Watch over people’s relation with park and prepare the question for an interview to understand Italian lifestyle. 4. To analyze the result we have, understand and summarize results according to categories of needs. 5. Choose the product of need and brainstorming. 6. Sketching , 3d design and renderings.

PHASE 1 : COLLECTING INFO ABOUT THE PARK
P arco Di Sempione is the central park of Milan and the biggest green area (386.000 sqm) of the central. The park which
includes the
historical Castle of Sforza, long parade areas, lakes and activity areas is the breathing space of the ci city for Italians.

PHASE 2 : TEAM WORK - UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF USER
T o have the right information about the needs of visitors of the park
we
have
created
some
questions such as the age of the visitor, how often the visitor goes to park, whats the purpose of visiting the park, with whom they visit the park and what they wish to be changed in the park.
PHASE 3 : ANALYZE THE NEEDS OF THE PARK
P eople who visit park are between 16
and
Milanese
40
years
people
old, and
mostly a
small
percentage of tourists visit the park. People mostly visit the park after work and at the weekends for relaxing. They come together with pa parents and friends, some comes alone to ride bicycle, run and to rest. They need more shadow, more comfortable benches not only to sit but also to lay on it, more direction

PHASE 4 : DECISION OF “WHAT TO DESIGN!”
I have decided to design seating units as i have noticed that there is a big need of it in many different parts of the park such as activity areas, green areas and shadowside areas.
P eople lay on the grass not only they enjoy but also many of them can not nd any comfortable bench to watch a concert, to lay on it or basicly just to sit under the shadow

PHASE 4 : DECISION OF “WHAT TO DESIGN!�
T he Existing benches which are not enough as number also not located in the proper areas and not comfortable except of siting on. I could clearly se that the benches are not enough to spend quality time for the visitor.
A nother disturbed situation for the park enviroment is some people use cardboards to lay on and than leave them as garbage. This is an

unacceptable situation.

D uring my sketches i have decided to create a set of different seating units which can be combined and increase
the
total
usage
area.
According to this idea i should work on Hexagonal form. It should have diferent sized for different people such as kids, elderly people, short and tall people etc.. So i have decided to create hexagon seating units with 5 different heights.

hexagon
shaped
design
enables limitless combination and dierent usage. The set can be produced from wood or cement for dierent needs and place of use.

O KCU Individual company is one of the leading
company
in
luxury
transportation industry in Turkey , Middle East and Arabic countries such as Dubai and Emirates. This project is a part of an interior design of a luxury minivan. The parts are designed to be pr produce as units out of the vehicle and then assemble them into the cabin as easy and quickly as possible. The materials which have been used to produce the unit are: high quality natural wood, alcantara and leather.
T he aim of the project was to produce everything out of the car and assemble the modules which don't need to be assembled a long time. This gives our customer more time to limited
