Gary ompson, 77, of Sanford, NC formerly of avilion, passed away peacefully May 31 at e Pinehurst Hospice House in Pinehurst, NC. He was born 12/30/1945 in Pavilion, a son of the late Clayton and Helen (Kelso) ompson.

Garygraduatedin1964fromPavilionCentralSchool.Hewastheownerof Batavia Starter from 1981-2004. Together Gary and Marjorie then moved to Deltona, FL where he worked for GE and started a small landscape ere are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.

Gary is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marjorie (Waring) ompson; 3 sons, Robert (Lisa) ompson of Garner, NC, John (Cindy) ompson of Fuquay Varina, NC, Curtis (Kristi) ompson of Gary, NC; daughterin-law, Jennifer ompson (Gerald Beattie) of Wake Forest, NC; 6 grandchildren, Haydon and Savannah ompson, Raina ompson, Clayton ompson, and Cli on and Rosalie Beattie. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Bill (Linda) and James (Smiley) ompson of Pavilion, NY; and a sister, Loretta Draper of Holley, NY; an uncle, Russ (Sharon) Kelso of Pavilion, NY; aunt, Zada Kelso of FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary was predeceased by his son, Brett ompson; sister, Marlene; two brothers, Robert and Clayton; and in-laws, Robert and Claire Waring.
