The Penfield Business Chamber (PBC) has launched its LOOK Local FIRST initiative to remind community members and consumers of the importance of shopping locally before browsing or shopping online or in big box stores. When you purchase from locally-owned businesses or utilize their services, more money (sales tax) is reinvested back into the community in which you live, helping it to prosper. The benefits of shopping locally also include building a connection with your community, creating local jobs, supporting future growth in the community, and more personal, face-to-face customer service! Additionally, according to the U.S Small Business Association, small businesses accounted for 65% of new jobs in the past 17 years! Shopping locally can also preserve the character of your community. Patronizing small businesses helps to support and sustain them. Instead of empty storefronts, there will be thriving businesses that offer unique, creative, and special products and services!
