CRUISING TIPS AND TRICKS: Make a list of activities. It can be easy to get overwhelmed by all of the offerings on a cruise ship, so much so that there’s some stress over trying to fit it all in. Recognize that you can’t see or hear it all, and prioritize what’s important to you. Make sure you have plenty of time to relax.

Strange But

* Dunce caps used to be a sign of intelligence! Thirteenth-century philosopher John Duns Scotus believed that a pointed cap helped spread knowledge from the tip to the brain, and his followers proudly wore them as badges of honor. A few hundred years later, when his ideas became less popular, the meaning of the Duns cap was turned on its, er, head, becoming a joke that led to its less flattering association.

Compassionate Caring Neighborhood Pharmacy

I have been fortunate to be near Meade Square Pharmacy in Victor for eight years. Today I had a dire situation with a medication I was prescribed which I could not use or return. The situation was handled with true compassion and reassurance by the owner.

Thank You

Gotta thank the nice man who gave me the plant at Tops Market in Hamlin. Still growing and looks beautiful. Sorry I didn’t get your name, but thanks again.

Watch Your Children

Parents, please watch your children! From kids walking home alone from school to playing in the park or just shopping. Today I had to call the police because a 10 year old girl was getting bullied by 5 to 6 other kids. Now I sat there awhile minding my own business but when the little girl was pushed and was told to go to the bathroom I already knew. The little girl literally screaming “I don’t wanna fight” and “no.” Now what’s crazy is those kids that were bullying that girl had an adult in the car across the street. What wrong, parents? No matter if your kid is “old enough” to go to the park by themselves you should be present in your child’s life. We live close to the water where people get trafficked the most. I’ve seen it all being a nurse: Kids come in unconscious, assaulted, overdosing, broken body parts from fights and being bullied all cause the parents and the adults are not around and are not paying attention to their kids behavior and actions.

Bad Drivers

Why are so many people driving around believing roads are only for them? Running red lights, not stopping at stop signs, tailgating, speeding etc. For those who believe they’re more important, you’re NOT! To the young ignorant kid today that cut me off, when I had the right away, at the red light you didn’t have the backbone to look over. You’re someday going to experience road rage for your self centered attitude.

Cookies And Cream Donuts

Makes 6 donuts

11/2 teaspoons distilled white vinegar

1 cup gluten-free flour

1/4 cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Pinch of salt

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

2 teaspoons coconut oil, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

12 vegan crunchy chocolate cookies, crushed

1 12-ounce jar Dollop Gourmet Madagascar Vanilla vegan frosting Milk

1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Spray a donut pan with nonstick cooking spray.

2. Pour the vinegar into a 1/2 cup measure. Add enough milk to come to the brim. Let sit until slightly thickened, 5 to 10 minutes.

3. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, applesauce, coconut oil, and vanilla. Slowly add the flour mixture and mix until smooth. Add the almond milk mixture and continue mixing for 1 minute more. Add half of the crushed cookies and mix until just combined.

4. Scoop the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling threequarters of the way full. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 10 to 15 minutes. Let cool before frosting.

5. Microwave the uncovered frosting jar for 5-second intervals, stirring in between, until soft. Gently frost the top of each donut. Sprinkle the remaining crushed cookies over the donuts.
