Christmas Party Nets Money for VA Hospitals Whitefish Bay– December, 2008 A very successful White Elephant Auction at the annual lodge Christmas Party netted $333 for two Veterans Hospitals. The money will be divided between the Zablocki VA

Hospital in Milwaukee and the King VA Hospital in King, Wisconsin. The party was threatened by a sudden snow storm which kept many lodge goers and their families away. Only 20 brave souls dared the elements to attend the party. The fortunate few feasted on delicious holiday ham and side dishes. Carols were sung, accompanied by Janet Huegel on the piano. The highlight of the evening was the traditional white elephant auction hosted by Dave Haase who had help this year from Br. Horace Palmer’s granddaughter, the lovely Emily Janczy. Though the gifts and attendees were few, the bids were high and furious! After the auction was over, brethren continued to make donations to fund the VA Hospitals.

MESSAGE FROM THE EAST Masonic Families Franklin Nuernberger, Worshipful Master

It's the first of December. Thanksgiving and elections are over. Here in the Milwaukee area we've had our first snow of this winter. Let me introduce myself. I am Franklin Nuernberger. Many of you knew my father Frank Nuernberger, Senior; my mother Mary Louise; or Ruth, my step-mother. I mention these family members because this year I would like to honor family members with Masonic associations, adult and youth. Within the Lodge beside the Nuernbergers, I am aware of Meixners, Roeders, Paradowskis and Potters. What other Masonic families do we have?

I urge all to search for Masonic relatives and ancestors. Come to Lodge. Bring your memories and memorabilia. As EA's we were taught the value of giving to those in need. As we are all one family in Masonry, we need one another and we are not complete without our families. In this spirit, add your Masonic family memories to ours. Brothers, I look forward to being your Worshipful Master for 2009. I ask for your help and prayers. Elsewhere in the Surveyor you will find the list of new officers and a tentative calendar for the first five months of 2009. Please welcome your new officers and support them in the upcoming year.

Greetings from the West Walt Smith Senior Warden

Brethren: I would like to share some information with you, entitled: “What is a Mason? The information is on a card sized piece enclosed in plastic, which I have carried for many years. I hope you enjoy reading it as, to me, it truly encompasses what it means to be a Mason. Just imagine what our Lodge could be if we would all follow these Masonic steps, making good men better.
