North Island Building Blocks Coordinator Full-Time, Permanent

Job Function/Purpose: The NI Building Blocks Coordinator provides support and supervision of the Child & Family Outreach Workers and Clerical Support positions. The Coordinator is responsible for case management procedures and ensuring effective services, budgeting and program management. This includes the collection of all relevant program data and statistics and completing all reports. The Coordinator also provides specialized support services to clients to enhance those provided by the Outreach Workers. Duties:  Provide supervision, consultation and direction to North Island Building Blocks Program staff. Ensuring sound and appropriate practice and case management.  Coordinate all services and programs, including taking lead in role in committees, planning, resource allocation, and Quality Assurance.  Maintain Budgets and complete all required reports.  Maintains an awareness of community resources, including health care services, social, economic, recreational, employment and educational services and resources. Establishes and maintains coordinated working relationships with other professionals and service providers involved with children and families.  Carries out quality assurance activities and projects, analysing and acting upon information received through incident reports, evaluations and other data, including collecting and compiling statistical data for research and evaluation purposes and contributing to the development of outcome measures for Child and Family Services.  Provides direction to staff and volunteers and assists with orientation of new staff and education experiences of students as well as sharing expertise with other members of the team as required.  Utilize a range of strategies to impart knowledge, improve skills and build awareness of resources;  Complete accurate and confidential records of all activities; Job Qualifications/Employment Requirements:  Degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care or other relevant human service field, plus 2 years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; and  Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation  Ability to exercise sound judgement in setting priorities and dealing with confidential and sensitive issues;  Demonstrated leadership and problem solving skills;  Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism and integrity;  Excellent verbal and written communication skills  Excellent Microsoft office computer skills.  Experience working with Aboriginal people and communities;  Experience with human service work, preferably Maternal/Child Health or Parenting programs;  Experience supervising and coaching staff.
