I was part of a team that developed a Master Plan for

organisation is dedicated to supporting and providing employment/volunteer opportunities to adults with intellectual disabilities. The master plan builds upon the organization’s strong emphasis on horticultural, educational, art and craft initiatives and envisions a transformation of this part of campus into a horticultural and wellness destination for volunteers and past residents. Split into four phases, the design aims to link the existing herb garden to a new cafe located in the building adjacent to the Greenhouse by providing a ‘edible seasonal parade’ of native fruit trees (Pawpaw, Persimmons, and Serviceberries). This will provide additional land-based vocational opportunities for CHS and allow volunteers to develop their horticultural skills and knowledge about local ecosystems. The Memorial Greenhouse will be transformed from an out-of-place industrial building, into an inviting sensory garden that provides a space for healing, meditation, and activities such as yoga. Phase 01 of the project focused on honoring the memory of Kristina, a past resident whose family funded the greenhouse and project, and expanded the memorial garden, provided a meditative walking trail around a native meadow, and installed a series of benches and clay bells in a nod to her past musical activities. With SALT I helped develop a master plan for the Village of Arts and Humanities (VAH) Campus. VAH are an organisation based in North Philadelphia that is deeply rooted in the local community. They provide arts-based opportunities for local youth and their families while preserving and celebrating black heritage. Owning numerous buildings and parcels spread over three city blocks, the existing conditions of the campus posed a range of problems that the client wanted the team to address: accessibility and mobility, safety, way-finding, and the preservation of existing artwork and murals. The main idea of the master plan was to create a ‘Village Loop’ trail that would help guide visitors to the campus and weave the various buildings and improved public spaces of the campus together. It will take users on a journey through the community’s rich past, present and future and provide opportunities for storytelling, art installations and play. A sensitivity to preserving and protecting existing artwork, murals and sculptures was key and we worked closely with the local community over the course of several stakeholder meetings to pinpoint areas and elements that had a special importance. The organisation has recently given SALT the green light to move ahead with detailed design of the first phase of the project which will lead to a more detailed design of Angel Park & the Magical Garden. I submission for the Atglen 4 Parks Master Plan which ended up receiving an Honour Award from the PA-DE ASLA in 2021. The two renders (pictured above and right) were created for the award submission and for marketing purposes. Working on these two images proved to be very useful as it helped me develop a work-flow for producing high-quality digital renderings suitable for a fast-pace professional setting while further honing my 3D modelling and rendering software skills (Rhino, Grasshopper, Lumion, Photoshop) that I developed during my MLA

The awards submission package also allowed me revisit some of the previous work I completed on the project and I produced a number of supporting composite drawings and diagrams that helped market and explain the project to the judges, the client, and the public. The additional drawings and graphics were included in a package that helped the township secure funding for the first phase of the project (Borough Hall) which is slated to commence in fall 2022.

Valley Ave Park contains sensitive ecological features on the western end of the site. A series of trails weave through a restored native meadow, with future pedestrian links Render of Main Street, a small pocket park. Built in Rhino and rendered to Enola Low Grade Trail and Wolf’s Hollow County Park.

in Lumion, a lot of extra detail was added by hand in Photoshop with a drawing tablet to help sell the photo-realistic style that the client wanted for the render (software used: Rhino, Lumion, Photoshop, InDesign) 02 One of the additional diagrams produced to explain the different phases of the Master Plan Project. The four parks of varying scale create much needed recreation opportunities for the residents and were designed to be a part of a regional network of linked parks (software used: AutoCAD, Illustrator, InDesign)

The Team produced a 135-page Master Plan, including site analyses, community engagement summaries, design plans, operation and maintenance plans, and cost estimates. The Master Plan has received Atglen Borough Council and DCNR approval, and is being used to secure funding.

FREEDOM GREENS + GARDENS COMMUNITY GARDEN Philadelphia, PA 01

02 I was fortunate to be play a major role in the SALT team that worked with the Get Fresh Daily, a healthy lifestyle organisation that celebrates black culture, to design a community healing garden outside a school in West Philadelphia. Community participation was key to the success of this project and we organised numerous workshops throughout each stage of the project: helping the community prepare the plant beds and build planters; teaching local mothers how to identify and remove weeds; and assisting the girls participating in a summer camp to prepare and paint the centrepiece table whose design was based on the concept of ‘Ubuntu’. The first phase of the project was a massive success and the organisation received funding from the William Penn Foundation to continue with the second phase of the project that will add additional amenities to the space and continue to organise workshops for the community Collaborators: Sara Pevaroff Schuh, Pia von Barby

I worked closely with a senior colleague ARCHITECTS to develop a drawing set for the Cheyney University Athletics Complex project. The client asked the design team to develop three different designs at varying levels of cost and complexity for their new athletics facilities. Given the scope of the area and the need to produce three sets of drawings, the resulting CAD set was a lot larger and more complicated than the ones I had previously worked on and required a good use of the project management tools native to AutoCAD to work effectively. We had to design at multiple scales and working on this project allowed me to become adept at managing sheet sets, layer states, and other time saving techniques which are applicable to future drafting work. It also allowed me to further expand my knowledge of North American plants as I was responsible for developing the planting design for the project which included a native woodland and wetland.

I worked with the firm’s principal to develop a design for a play space at a small Temple in the Philadelphia 1.25.2022 Suburbs. The design BOARD replacesMEETING the dated plastic play HAR ZI ON TEMPLE – PLAYGROUND RENOVATI ONS equipment that clashed with the existing tree canopy with a nature play loop that consisted of natural play elements (logs & boulders) and fun robinia play equipment more suitable for the woodland setting. Protecting the existing tree roots and managing disturbance was key to the technical production of this design-build set, especially given the lack of a detailed survey. We had to take careful measurements on site in order to locate the foundations of the existing play equipment so that we could strategically replace them with minimal disturbance. My development of a Grasshopper script that transforms survey points and contours into accurate 3D terrain in Rhino proved to be a useful asset for the team when analysing the existing drainage and accessibility problems of the site during the initial concept design phase of the project. The model was also useful in helping the team make design decisions and developing a sense of the spatial relationship between the new school building and play space. I also assisted in developing a native planting palette that drew upon the valley concept of the school yard and building.

SALT was tasked by the client to design a school yard that will be “a dream, a fantasy, a magical place!” and bring some much needed hope to the disadvantaged community of Kensington in North Philadelphia. The renders I produced for this project aimed to provide a realistic representation of the spatial qualities of the play space for the Art Commission while the blue and magenta hues of the render were chosen to show the design concept of imagination and fantasy. Again, the model proved to be a useful tool in the design process as we used it to test different play equipment layouts, materials, and surface patterns during the later stages of the project.

01 Regional Map showing historic flooding of the ‘Edgelands’ (the west London suburbs in area surrounding Heathrow). This work was part of my master’s project that explored society’s relationship with water in an uncertain hydrological future and this drawing was published in the Landscapists issue of the journal AD. 02 & 03 The project involved a heavy use of ArcGIS to produce a series of analytical drawings and maps that were used to inform an design strategy for the region based on the concept of ‘Wet Commons’. Figure 02 is a spread taken from my masters book and shows the various layers of analysis while Figure 03 explores the historic flooding and permeability of Staines. 18 G E O R G E A R M O U R

04 & 05 Two perspectives produced for the People’s House, a research project that proposed the creation of a temporary performance space in Greenwich Park, London. It draws upon the various processes of performance located on site and the tradition of the Yard-Inn Theatres. The design explores questions of ownership and public access to green space by playing with the spatial proportions of the famous Queen’s House (36m x 36m square) located just a step away. The design consisted of an assemblage of 3 elements: a flexible performance space and structure; a re-purposed building which would be used for programming and organisation; and a workshop that would be used to assemble and prepare props and pieces necessary for the performances.
