Meet the Animals
Falconry
Tailored for younger children, this experience gives little ones the chance to meet and greet some of our friendly farm residents. Our reindeer brothers welcome lots of attention, our foxes love to be hand-fed and many other animals are waiting to get lots of strokes and cuddles.
Meet our harris hawk, barn owl and other beautiful birds of prey. Discover the history of falconry and the equipment used and after a demonstration, you will have a chance to fly the birds yourself (recommended for ages 8 years and upwards). Don’t forget to bring your camera - this is a wildlife experience you will definitely want to capture on film.
Night Walk
Wildlife Experience
So much wildlife comes alive only at night, but a night lamp and a little expert know-how can reveal this hidden and magical world. Fly our barn owl at dusk, meet our hedgehogs and bat, before looking for wild badgers, owls, deer and foxes close to the farm.
Join our ranger for a woodland safari to discover the wildlife that hides right under our noses! Then interact with the farm residents, including hand-feeding foxes, flying our eagle owl and meeting many other animals.

Landal Gwel an Mor: where the ocean meets a woodland retreat
Landal Gwel an Mor work alongside the David Bellamy Award and the Green Key Scheme to develop and deliver environmentally friendly holidays. Our aim is that we all work together to make your holiday carbon neutral. DURING YOUR STAY Please ensure you always have your lodge thermostat to the minimum setting required and please turn it off on departure. We ask that you don’t open the windows to cool down your lodge. Energy saving and LED lamps have been fitted so please turn these off when not required and on departure.
Please do not run the tap when brushing your teeth and remember the longer you spend in the shower or how high you fill your bath all have an impact on our beautiful Cornish environment. Please place a housekeeping card on any beds that are not used along with towels to save water and energy when we prepare for the next guests. RESORT Solar panels on the club house are fed back into the grid and charge some of our car charging points as well as the pool area, so you can enjoy your swim knowing the electric power is coming from the Cornish sunshine.
Award Winning Cornish Luxury Holiday Resort at Portreath
Please use the poolside showers before entering the swimming pool.
LANDAL AND ECOLOGY
All the fish on our menu and specials board come from sustainable sources as we are part of the Cornwall Good Seafood Guide.
Landel Gwel an Mor is committed to providing a wide range of wildlife habitats for a variety of wild and our resort animals. We also provide a permanent home for many rescued animals.
We work with the local community and groups like #loveportreath and the Parish Council to ensure your holiday has a positive effect on the local environment.
Join us at Feadon Farm Wildlife Centre and you will gain an environmental and ecological education in a fun unique setting.
WASTE AND RECYCLING
Planting of bee-friendly plants is part of what we do and we are excited about our new beehive which is next to the pond dipping area in the woods and is a first for a Cornish resort.
A central area is provided in both the Scandinavian and Residence areas for paper, card, can/plastic and glass. We do monitor with our waste partners Biffa how much of your waste goes to landfill or is recycled. Please use the Landal recycle bag we have provided under your sink and ensure the bags are left clean and ready for the next guest. In the Residence lodges you have two bins, one can be used for general waste and one is for your recycling. We are almost plastic free and switched to tinned water and reduced plastic and packaging in all sorts of fun ways across the resort. Our take away containers are all recyclable and we have been part of the Final Straw scheme for over a year dropping our use of straws by 98% and using biodegradable straws as a substitute. We are also proud to be part of the water refill scheme, so if you have a water bottle you can refill it in our Restaurant and Base Camp free of charge and we also do this for locals and visitors as well.
Ask Gary and the team about the various projects carried out in order to promote the conservation of native wildlife, including our very own water vole project. TRAVEL 98% of vehicles used on site are electric which also helps to create a quieter environment. Should you need to drive, and the village car park is full there is free parking at lighthouse hill, and you can walk back to the beach via the coastal path. Why not drop the family off and park up for free? Charging points are provided to guests with electric vehicles and you can use these FREE of charge. These are located at the side of reception, Admin and the Sales office. We have literature at reception for walks and cycle routes so please come and talk to our team. Bike and doggy wash off station located opposite reception.

Bollo the Bear Landal Gwel an Mor welcomes
our Resort Ranger
Who is Bollo?
Bollo lives in the woods next to Feadon Farm, you might hear him snoring if you’re on one of the night walks. His best friends are the foxes at the farm, he likes playing hide and seek with them. He is way better at seeking than hiding. Bollo’s favourite food is the kids sausage and mash at the Terrace Restaurant, but he does also like to go for breakfast at Base Camp because he can play on the slide whilst he waits. When his Fox friends are busy, he likes to go and do archery. His highest score is 45 which is very good. He really wants to try Sea Scooters but he can’t swim yet!
You can buy Bollo the Bear and other Bollo goodies from reception. Colour in Bollo and email your drawing to marketing@gwelanmor.com to be entered into our draw to win a Bollo gift pack.

Supporting the NHS: Our Story Can you believe that not too long ago Covid-19 wasn’t a word that we knew? Now barely a minute goes by without someone mentioning Covid-19. From dominating the news and taking over social media to talking about it with friends and family on personal phone calls and Zoom video chats. Four weeks ago, who knew we would be chatting to our neighbours through the slats in our fences or from the safety of our windows? With the pandemic firmly gripping the world and causing panic and worry for many, we wanted to do whatever we could to help. But as a holiday business, it was hard to work out what we could offer that would really make a difference.
amazing answer – we have more than 100 fully equipped lodges sitting empty! Who could they benefit? NHS keyworkers. From NHS staff coming out of retirement and those coming to the county to support from elsewhere, to those who live with loved ones who are at extra risk of infection by living with someone working on the frontline; our lodges are the ideal place for those putting their lives at risk to self isolate before and after their vital shift work. Soon our lodges were FULL with NHS heroes giving them a home-from-home lodge to use to allow them to continue to work and protect their families at home.
The team got to work, running countless brainstorming sessions and having endless phone calls to work out what we could do. And then it came to us with a simple yet
Many of the keyworkers who have stayed with us have given our staff volunteers lots of gifts and ‘thank you’ cards when they left which have been gratefully received and enjoyed by all!

family and household members by moving out of their homes. This act of kindness allowed our colleagues to continue to work and provide care for our county at a time when their work was most vital. Thank you so much for all that you have done.”
Here is a lovely message we received from one of our NHS heroes: “I would like to thank you and your team for the incredible support Gwel an Mor has given our staff over the past two months. Right from the first day of lockdown you were there for us, offering your amazing accommodation for our key NHS workers free of charge. Your incredible generosity in opening up Gwel an Mor has allowed over 50 of our staff to continue working on the frontline while protecting their own
As the risk was reduced, our NHS heroes left us and returned to their own homes. We’ve deep sanitised all our lodges with specialist fogging equipment that kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses and are proud that we were able to do a small part to support those who needed it most.

Enjoy a safer stay when you visit You are excited for your getaway. You want to head to the beach, go out for meals, explore the attractions, use the facilities and amenities, visit the villages and towns, do some shopping – we understand that your holiday is something to be excited about! And you CAN do all of these things during your stay. However, things are a little different this summer. Your safety, the safety of other guests, our staff and those in the local communities is paramount, so we’ve put together some recommendations about how you can enjoy a memorable holiday for all the right reasons… Food & Drink: Restaurants and pubs will be open, so please visit them. We ask you to abide by social distancing guidelines. Take note of the guidance in each venue with regards to ordering, waiting, seating, numbers of people and payment methods. Perhaps take a picnic out with you, cook in your lodge a little more than normal or enjoy tasty takeaways. Keep Left: From waking around the resort site to exploring Cornwall, please maintain a safe distance from other people. Treat pathways like driving and ‘keep to the left’ when passing others. If you are visiting with children, explain the importance of them not getting close too others before you go out for the day. If you are a large group, walk in single file when others are approaching so as not to cause worry for others. Shopping: Shops will be open and we want you to enjoy them. Please adhere to social distancing guidelines in each shop, as they may vary. Be aware of one-way systems, reduced numbers of people
permitted inside the shop, use hand sanitiser, and avoid touching items or rifling through racks. Visit the Beach: You’re in Cornwall and the beaches are calling! Enjoy them and please respect them. Take an extra bag with you, so if the bins are full you can bring your rubbish back to the resort to dispose of in our bins. If it looks busy, perhaps head to another larger beach such as nearby Hayle Towans or Gwithian just a 10-minute drive away. Check out the tide times and plan your beach trips at low tide. When you arrive, avoid sitting on walls where others have been perching. Remember to maintain social distancing on the sand and in the sea at all times. Pre-book local attractions in advance online such as The Eden Project, National Trust gardens and English Heritage sites. When exploring Cornwall and the resort, be vigilant of signs and advice at all times. To enjoy a safer stay this summer, treat Cornwall as you would treat your own home. Remember to regularly wash your hands, wear face masks when appropriate and maintain a safe distance when meeting and passing others. Holidays are a time to relax and have fun, and being responsible for your safety and the peace of mind of others around you will ensure everyone can do just that. If you’re unsure about anything, simply give our friendly reservations team a call to chat and if we don’t know the answer – we will find out for you: 01209 842354 or dial 0 from your lodge
