CELEBRATE A WORLD OF WINE
WELCOME TO OLYMPIA
Welcome to the big one. No, make that our biggest one! This year there are more producers than ever for you to meet, more wines to taste, more interactive events for you to enjoy – all in the magnificent location that is Kensington, Olympia.
Make sure you pace yourself to get the absolute most out of the event. Think marathon, not sprint! And you can do things in whatever order you wish – although my love of great fizz (and family loyalty!) mean I can highly recommend English sparkling wine as a great start point. Then see where your glass takes you next!
The Taste Theatre promises great entertainment and insight. Try amazing food and wine pairings and maybe spot a rock star guest (woo-hoo!) at the Cheese Hub, brought to you by Britpop. Then put on the headphones and discover how different
songs can change your tasting experience. It’s the silent disco to beat them all!
There are also plenty of small-scale food producers here with us today so make sure you try some of the delicacies on offer.
And don’t forget to vote for your favourite wine of the festival. Or to take full advantage of mixing your own case, any way you like it, with 20% on-the-day saving against any wine being shown today.

FESTIVAL legends
Welcome from us all.
You will find hundreds of wines here today, with the winemaker or representative here to explain how and why they are made. And getting you to taste them (well, maybe not all of them). You find more in a wine when you’ve met the person who made it – and this formula has made many lasting friendships.
Our Wine Festival brings together some of the greatest names in the industry, who have witnessed the evolution of wine culture from its early days to the vibrant scene we enjoy today.
This is the festival that launched New Zealand Sauvignon on to the world stage when Hunter’s stole the show back in 1986. What future superstars will we discover this year?
The Taste Tunnel also returns, offering you a unique way of understanding what scents and flavours make the new Kew Gardens Series wines so delicious. It’s a must try to improve your tasting skills. See page 26.
The Festival really is a wine event like no other. A market, a party, a fête, a celebration. Serious and not serious. It’s The Club doing what it does best. Cheers!

RAISE A GLASS TO THE SUCCESS STORY OF THE 21ST CENTURY … ENGLISH WINE!
England! Land of Harrow & Hope and the glory of Wyfold Vineyards, not to mention home to the doyen of Sussex sparklers, Ridgeview Estate. Our country’s fine sparkling wines rival the best of Champagne. Redbeard and Oastbrook Estate also underline the class of English still wine. Try one today!
“Corks have been popping in south Oxfordshire as Barbara Laithwaite’s lovely Wyfold Vineyard racks up trophies and gold medals. Henry and Kaye Laithwaite produce a knock-out range too, flying the flag for the flint-laden slopes above Marlow. Sussex is represented by sparkling pioneers, Ridgeview Estate, and festival newcomers, Oastbrook Estate.”
Becca Reeves, Wine Buyer
"When we planted our first vines in 2003, I never imagined being here sharing our sparkling wines in such esteemed company. But I knew our little vineyard in the Chiltern Hills near Henley was the perfect spot – and here we are at Olympia rubbing shoulders with some of the greats of Champagne! But it’s been a long journey …
We had to wait a full ten years to release our first wine, which quickly won a Trophy at the Judgement of Parsons Green competition. By then my little hobby had turned into an all-consuming passion.
We’ve won a few more big awards since then, but this is what it’s all about. Seeing familiar faces, meeting new Wine Show goers, and delighting you all with a glass or two of lovely Oxfordshire fizz.
Makes all the early mornings and hard work out in all weathers very worthwhile. Thanks for supporting Wyfold and English wines –and cheers! Do please join me in the Wyfold garden located by the main entrance."
“Grape growing must run in our family’s blood! Harrow & Hope is about 15 miles from Wyfold above the Thames at Marlow. Over half a million years, the retreating river left rocks that make our estate a dream for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. But a nightmare to cultivate, as two broken harrows testify. But then nothing worth treasuring ever came easy. Sharing these wines with you here in Olympia gives me immense pride and pleasure. Enjoy!"

Jeremy Clarkson
Farming isn’t just “how” Hawkstone is made - it’s “why” it’s made. Having put blood, sweat and tears into cultivating his malting barley, Jeremy Clarkson was determined that it be put to good use, so supplied it directly to a local brewery to turn into lager.
Our master brewers who created the original lager have overseen the expansion of the range, including a regular rotation of limited editions to keep things fresh. We launched Hawkstone Cider with the same authentic farming storyalways British apples, never from concentratethis time in partnership with the phenomenon that is Kaleb Cooper.
Every Hawkstone product is a unique combination of hard work, quality ingredients, brewing expertise and personality. This shines through everything we do.
“Years in the making - Britpop sparkling wine was a smash hit last summer so we're delighted to broaden the Britpop range further. The Wine Festival is the perfect moment to pop up 'The Cheese Hub' and pop off the corks on the sparkling rosé, elderflower spritz and our cider. Cheers. Alex James”

When winemaker Hervé Sabardeil discovered the story of a rich, red wine that was popular with Roman centurions in southern France, a legendary new wine was born. Hervé set about recreating that ancient style, producing a super-juicy, irresistible red – and naming it Cabalié. The rest is history. It’s our No.1 bestseller year after year, a regular Gold-medal winner and is always hugely popular at the Wine Festival. All hail Hervé … and visit his stand to enjoy the whole family of Cabalié wines.

“When we held our first festival, Spain was largely regarded as a source of inexpensive, ordinary reds – with only Rioja standing above the parapet. Now you have an incredible choice of superb styles. Enjoy fresh whites like Verdejo and Rioja Blanco alongside familiar red favourites like El Bombero, mature La Cantera and, of course, wonderful Riojas. Why not start with Cava, the classic sparkling style tasting better than ever, finish on amazing sherry … and enjoy everything in between?
Viva España!”

ATTENTION TO DETAIL SINCE 1926
Our bodega is founded on hard work in the vineyard, cosmopolitan spirit, deep roots, and innovation. We celebrate our history but are always looking to the future. We were born in Elciego, the birthplace of modern Rioja wine and one of the best known and most respected towns in the Rioja Alavesa. Behind the solid walls of its manor houses, centuries of wisdom have made Alavesa a winemaking stronghold. We had the good fortune to put down roots in the perfect spot and are dedicated to delighting all lovers of great Rioja.

Leonardo Bassano
The scenic vineyards of Tuscany
“With thousands of years' winemaking history and the most indigenous grape varieties of any country, Italy is known as “The Land of the Vine”. It produces a vast range of styles from its hugely varied climate and topography. Crisp whites from the Alpine north, to classics from the warm gentle hills of Tuscany, big warm reds from the sun-baked south and much more besides. We have been exploring Italy since our very earliest days, making friends (you’ll meet some of them today) and bringing you exciting new finds. Here’s to another half century of Italian discoveries.”

day in the spirit of this generous and welcoming land. We also have loyal growers right across Italy, whose dedication helps make our Papavero wines so popular, year after year. We take great pride in looking after our environment and all our growers – and delighting our friends in the UK.

BERKSHIRE TROUT
berkstrout.co.uk
Berkshire Trout’s heritage dates from 1907 when the farm near Hungerford first started restocking rivers and fisheries with beautiful brown and rainbow trout across the south of England. Lucy and Jon Handley took over the farm in 2020 and, guided by the sustainability of the farm, founded the food side of the business in 2021. The online shop sells a small, but delicious, range of fresh, cold and hot smoked trout products. All the fish are grown on the extensive and low-stocked farm which is fed by the clear flowing waters of the River Dun. The trout are given as much space as they need to develop and grow, as they would do in the wild, which provides an enhanced and delightful flavour.

THE RAINBOW NATION FLIES THE FLAG FOR EXPRESSIVE,
SUPERB-VALUE STYLES ACROSS THE SPECTRUM
Having made wine for three and a half centuries, South Africa has a vinous heritage to rival some of the world’s finest. And its wine trade remains incredibly vibrant thanks to forward-thinking producers whose estates are often the beating heart of their local communities.
“South Africa produces expressive wines across the board but it’s the whites above all that have stolen the limelight. Namely racy Colombard, elegant Sauvignon and complex, distinctive Chenin Blanc. New milestones have been hit with Gooseberry Bush enjoying a record-long stay at No.1 in our sales charts and Journey’s End winning our first ever Winery of the Year award. With so many great Cape producers here today, I’m sure there are many more accolades to come.”

We are incredibly lucky to be nestled amongst the Schapenberg hills, beneath which lay 350 million-year-old decomposed granite soils. This creates one of the most prestigious terroirs in South Africa, and is where the vines are planted. As well as fantastic views, our vineyards benefit from the cooling and cleansing south-easterly wind, known locally as the ‘Cape Doctor’, which comes in from nearby False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

COME AND TRY SOME HEAVENLY OFFERINGS FROM THE LAND OF THE LONG WHITE CLOUD…
New Zealand has around 200 million vines amidst a population of just 5 million people. Wine is a source of national pride and of great importance to the economy. Perhaps that's why they get it so right, so often ... not only with Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough, but all sorts of grapes from regions across the two islands.
“It’s impossible to think of Sauvignon Blanc without thinking of New Zealand. Remarkably, the first Sauvignon vines weren’t planted in New Zealand until 1973. And it was the Vintage Festival just over a decade later that launched Kiwi Sauvignon onto the world stage when Hunter’s stole the show. Jane Hunter’s team is back alongside fellow stalwarts Seifried Estate, makers of bestselling Split Rock, and other much-loved producers. Prepare to be dazzled!”

From humble beginnings, the family’s success story is one of the most remarkable in Australian winemaking history. It begins with Filippo and Maria Casella setting sail from Italy to Australia to find a better way of life and eventually settling in Yenda, New South Wales. After many years of hard work and struggle, it was in 2001 that things changed for the family. John’s vision to create approachable, fruit forward wines that consumers wanted to drink saw rapid success on a global scale.
John’s passion for Australian winemaking has led to the expansion of the company to include some of the country’s most iconic wineries. Honouring decades of family winemaking tradition, John’s desire is to showcase the excellence of Australia’s most famed regions and winemakers.
