About Habib University
4
Habib University is the hub of Liberal Arts and Sciences education in Pakistan. Offering a truly transformative and evolved learning experience, it is an institution that redefines higher education in the country and the region, in stark contrast with the overly vocationalized, low quality, and inaccessible education sector to date. Having commenced operations in August 2014 and successfully graduated the first class in May 2018, this landmark institution now looks forward to a new phase to continue innovations, consolidate impact, and grow our collaborations.

Building Communities Great universities distinguish themselves in the characteristics and scope of the communities they are able to convene, which include alumni, donors, academics, and supporters. It is these communities that safeguard the quality, maintain the relevance, and ensure the sustainability of tertiary institutions. Much can be achieved when societal leaders come together. It is in this context that the Habib University community has become a cause of inspiration and innovation: creating a quality learning environment, ensuring accessibility based on merit rather than background, and leveraging sustainability that is independent from tuition income but built on societal ownership. Communities locally and internationally are recognizing that innovative institutions bring transformative change for the country. Pakistani philanthropists have supported some of the world’s leading institutions (e.g. Sohaib and Sara Abbasi funded an entire program in Islamic Studies at Stanford University), indicating the scope of possibilities. Habib University aspires to be the institution that more and more strive to be an active part of, to develop Pakistan’s future, together. 6
