FAMILIES HELPING FAMILIES HELP THEMSELVES Habitat is the only organization in Eagle County offering home ownership opportunities to families earning between 35% and 60% of the Area Median Income. Habitat knows that when we partner with a family to create decent and affordable housing, we help that family forge a path out of poverty.

The sweat equity hours were difficult, but so rewarding in the end. The Habitat staff was so supportive and always there to lend an ear and keep us motivated. It is a blessing being part of this community.” – JESSICA MAPES HabitatVailValley.org

VOLUNTEERS VOLUNTEERS MAKE IT ALL POSSIBLE Volunteers are an integral part of Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley’s operation and success. 532 individuals volunteered with us in 2014 enabling us to better expand our capacity and to achieve our ambitious program goals. Without volunteers, our work and our reach would be limited, and building homes in our community would be cost prohibitive.
6
Volunteers from Beck Building Company & St. Mary’s Church.
Our families put in a great deal of hard work to own their homes. The opportunity to share that experience with their neighbors, and build each other’s homes, results in an incredibly close-knit community.” – AMERICORPS MEMBER PHIL BOWERS

INTERNATIONAL ELIMINATING POVERTY HOUSING WORLDWIDE Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley’s work does not end in our local community. For every house we build here locally we build one internationally to support Habitat International’s global mission to eliminate poverty housing worldwide.
2014 GLOBAL VILLAGE TRIP A group of volunteers from the Vail Valley traveled to Malawi, Africa in June for 9 days, and built simple brick homes alongside local families. The group formed once-in-a-lifetime friendships as they lived, worked, and ate with the local people in the rural village of Mulanje. 12

I was so touched by the excitement and happiness the villagers exhibited while we were there. The kids were so curious and would just watch in awe as this house grew higher and higher, brick by brick each day. I will never forget their smiles and giggles.” – TRICIA SWENSON

FOR YOUR GENEROSITY! When you support Habitat, it’s more than an investment in homes. Together, we are breaking the cycle of poverty and building foundations for a stronger future.
Building our dream home through Habitat has made all of our dreams a reality. I am happy and proud that I can continue living and raising my children in the same Valley I grew up in.” – FRANCES CARTHY
