WELCOME It is a pleasure and a privilege to have this opportunity to welcome everyone here to the Barbican for tonight’s concert. It is a wonderful way to celebrate together the rich musical life of our school. Making music of true quality involves the support, the goodwill and the dedication of many parents, staff and boys who work together tirelessly to produce performances of which we can all be proud. It is therefore fitting that the whole school community has gathered together at the Barbican for what will be a most memorable concert. I wish all those performing the very best of luck. Thank you very much for your support and I hope you have an enjoyable evening.

Peter Hamilton Headmaster

FOREWORD FROM THE HEAD OF THE PREPARATORY SCHOOL ‘Habs at the Barbican’ is legendary and all 217 Prep boys have been preparing for this concert with excited anticipation! Making music is at the very heart of life in the Prep School. Our inspirational music teachers draw from the boys an unprecedented level of performance whilst ensuring they have great fun and thoroughly enjoy the experience. I have absolutely no doubt that the concert tonight will be a wonderful occasion for all involved and one which the boys will remember for a very long time. On a personal note, as a lifelong ABBA fan, I am sure, like me, you will not be able to resist joining in! On behalf of the Prep boys I would like to thank all our parents and families for their continued support. Thanks also go to the Prep and Pre-Prep staff who are working behind the scenes to enable the boys to share this special opportunity to sing in one of London’s finest concert halls.

ABBA MEDLEY Mamma Mia I’ve been cheated by you since I don’t know when So I made up my mind, it must come to an end Look at me now, will I ever learn? I don’t know how but I suddenly lose control There’s a fire within my soul Just one look and I can hear a bell ring One more look and I forget everything, w-o-o-o-oh

I have a dream, a fantasy To help me through reality And my destination makes it worth the while Pushing through the darkness still another mile I believe in angels Something good in everything I see I believe in angels When I know the time is right for me I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream

Mamma mia, here I go again My my, how can I resist you? Mamma mia, does it show again? My my, just how much I’ve missed you Yes, I’ve been broken hearted Blue since the day we parted Why, why did I ever let you go? Mamma mia, now I really know, My my, I could never let you go

Dancing Queen You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen

I’ve been angry and sad about things that you do I can’t count all the times that I’ve told you we’re through And when you go, when you slam the door I think you know that you won’t be away too long You know that I’m not that strong. Just one look and I can hear a bell ring One more look and I forget everything, w-o-o-o-oh Mamma mia, here I go again My my, how can I resist you? Mamma mia, does it show again? My my, just how much I’ve missed you Yes, I’ve been broken hearted Blue since the day we parted Why, why did I ever let you go? Mamma mia, even if I say Bye bye, leave me now or never mamma mia, it’s a game we play Bye bye doesn’t mean forever I have a dream I have a dream, a song to sing To help me cope with anything If you see the wonder of a fairy tale You can take the future even if you fail I believe in angels Something good in everything I see I believe in angels When I know the time is right for me I’ll cross the stream - I have a dream

Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for the place to go Where they play the right music, getting in the swing You come to look for a king Anybody could be that guy Night is young and the music’s high With a bit of rock music, everything is fine You’re in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance... You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen You’re a teaser, you turn ‘em on Leave them burning and then you’re gone Looking out for another, anyone will do You’re in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance... You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen

FEEL THE SPIRIT 1. Joshua fit the Battle of Jericho Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, Oh, Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, And the walls come tumblin’ down.

the sun, I got a home in glory land that outshines the sun, Way beyond the blue.

You may talk about your king of Gideon, You may talk about your man of Saul; But there’s none like good old Joshua At the battle of Jericho.

Ev’ry time I feel the spirit Moving in my heart I pray, Oh, ev’ry time I feel the spirit Moving in my heart I pray,

Well up to the walls of Jericho He marched with spear in hand: ‘Go blow those ram horns’ Joshua cried, ‘Cos the battle is in my hand.’

The River Jordan is chilly and cold, Chills the body but not the soul. And all around me looks so shine, I ask my Lord if it all was mine.

Joshua fought the battle, So the Bible say; And the walls come tumblin’ down: Great day! Oh, Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, And the walls come a-tumblin’ down.

I’m on the road to heaven now, you must take it too; I’m on the road to heaven now, you must take it too; I’m on the road to heaven now, you must take it too; Take it way beyond the blue in glory.

The lam’ ram sheep horns ‘gin to blow, Trumpets begin to soun’. Joshua commanded the children to shout, And the walls come tumblin’ down. Oh Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, And the walls come tumblin’ down. Oh Joshua fit the battle of Jericho, Hallelujah! And the walls come tumbling’ down. 5. Ev’ry time I feel the spirit Ev’ry time I feel the spirit Moving in my heart, Lord, I pray; O Lord I kneel and pray. Ev’ry time I feel the spirit Moving in my heart I pray, Oh, up on the mountain my Lord spoke; Out of his mouth came fire and smoke. Oh, ev’ry time I feel the spirit Moving in my heart I pray; Yes, ev’ry time I feel the spirit Moving in my heart I pray. Do Lord, oh do Lord, oh do remember me; Do Lord, oh do Lord, oh do remember me; Do Lord, oh do Lord, oh do remember me; Way beyond the blue in glory. I got a home in glory land that outshines the sun, I got a home in glory land that outshines

Yes, my Lord, Ev’ry time I feel the spirit Moving in my heart I pray; Yes, ev’ry time I feel the spirit Moving in my heart I pray. 6. Deep river Deep river, my home is over Jordan; Deep river, Lord: I want to cross over into camp ground. Oh, don’t you want to go to that Gospel feast, That promised land, where all is peace. Deep river, my home is over Jordan; Deep river, Lord: I want to cross over into camp ground.

7. When the saints go marching in Glory, glory hallelujah! The saints go marching in. Oh, when the saints go marching in, Oh, when the saints go marching in: Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number, When the saints go marching in. And when the revelation comes, And when the revelation comes: Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number, When the revelation comes. Oh, when the new world is revealed Oh, when the new world is revealed Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number, When the new world is revealed. Oh, when they gather round the throne, Oh, when they gather round the throne, Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number, When they gather round the throne. Hallelujah, brothers, Hallelujah sisters! Hear the music going round and around, While the saints go marching up into glory, Oh, hear the angel trumpets sound. And when they crown him King of Kings, And when they crown him King of Kings, Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number, When they crown him King of Kings. And when the sun no more will shine, And when the sun no more will shine, Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number, When the sun no more will shine. And when the moon has turned to blood, And when the moon has turned to blood, Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number, When the moon has turned to blood. And on that hallelujah day, And on that hallelujah day, Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number, And on that hallelujah day. Oh, when the saints go marching in, Lord, oh, when the saints go marching in: Oh, Lord, I want to be in that number. Oh, when the saints, Oh, when they go, Oh, when they march, They’re singin’ a ‘Glory, glory, glory hallelujah!’

Land of Hope and Glory Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free, How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee? Wider still, and wider, shall thy bounds be set; God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet! Jerusalem (Boys) And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England’s mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of God On England’s pleasant pastures seen? And did the Countenance Divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here Among those dark Satanic Mills? (All) Bring me my Bow of burning gold! Bring me my Arrows of desire! Bring me my Spear! O clouds, unfold! Bring me my Chariot of fire! I will not cease from Mental Fight, Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand Till we have built Jerusalem In England’s green and pleasant land.
