Beyond the traditional 2023
At Habs, we believe in taking learning beyond the ‘traditional’ curriculum to foster a love of learning in our students and to build on our school values. Each of the programmes listed below adds to these principles in a different way, taking students beyond their comfort zones as they progress through the school.

ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT
Our Year 4 to Upper 5 (Year 11) students study short courses on topics beyond the normal curriculum, inspiring their curiosity.
This year, the courses were divided into three broad themes: ‘Mind, Body and Soul’ (Year 6 and 7), ‘A Global Perspective’ (Year 8 and 9) and ‘Citizens of the World’ (Year 10 and 11). Classes are made up of mixed year groups, which is a great way to meet other pupils and make friends.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Our 100-acre campus is the ideal setting for our Upper 4 and Lower 5 (Year 8 and 9) students to explore and learn in the fresh air.
Through learning in this environment, our students develop as leaders, team players, problem solvers and critical thinkers, as they go beyond their comfort zone. In Outdoor Education lessons, students learn about orienteering, geocaching, live-saving skills both in and out of water, cycling and forest school.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON GAMES
At Habs, we prioritise our students’ physical and mental wellbeing. We know fostering a positive relationship with sports is key to this, helping to reduce stress levels and boost endorphins.
Every Wednesday afternoon, our Upper 5 (Year 11) to Upper 6 (Year 13) students can take part in a wide range of mixed-age sports classes, which they change every six to eight weeks. Choosing from activities such as netball, lacrosse, touch rugby, cycling, badminton, tennis, yoga, and spin, they can either use our world-class facilities or venture off-site into the local community.

Broaden your with the Habs Diploma
Learning at Habs Sixth Form is more than just education. With the Habs Diploma, we go beyond the curriculum and help our pupils to build habits that will stay with them forever.
SIXTH FORM
We prepare them for life after Sixth Form, so they leave as more interesting and interested individuals, ready to take their place in society. Over the course of two years, students will be exposed to the four elements of the Habs Diploma: elective courses, visiting speaker programme, extended research project and at least 20 hours of community service.
Through the Habs Diploma, students can pursue current interests or find new avenues to explore. They can delve into challenging topics, displaying courage as they try new research techniques, and be inspired, learning from visiting industry experts. It brings the Sixth Form together across Habs Girls and Habs Boys and connects them to the local community through volunteering opportunities.
