Company background Dudley Haden & Ray Custance, original founders of Haden & Custance Limited back in 1965 lived an enduring vision that still is as strong today as it was almost 50 years ago. Their inspiring dream was to become marketleaders in manufacturing by initially purchasing a regionally well-known bed spring and bed production enterprise. Upon Ray’s passing, the company was handed down to a gentleman called Steve Cook. Steve then formed a partnership with MBL, a distinguished Consultant Contracting company within the dairy industry. MBL was one of the top 15 companies in New Zealand at this time in terms of revenue turnover.
Today, Haden & Custance continues to strive ahead, living the vision of its cofounders to be the market leaders in materials handling and leading-edge robotic automation technologies. Its international customer base and brand names are well-known throughout New Zealand, USA and in Europe.
In 1977, Haden & Custance phased in Manufacturing/Engineering by supplying its palletising equipment into Heinz Wattie’s in Hastings, Hawkes Bay, a well-known and respected Australasian business entity, an organisation that Haden & Custance still installs innovative technology solutions into today.
The company recognises that its most valuable asset is its people. With this intellectual resource and a strong customer-focused mind set, Haden & Custance is gearing up to celebrate the inspiring vision and beliefs of its co-founders on its 50th birthday in 2015.
In the late 1990’s, Haden & Custance maintained its market leadership position with the introduction of robotic automation technologies within the Dairy Industry and quickly gained recognition and respect throughout this industry for innovative engineering capabilities.
