A taste of Musical Theatre
For this year’s summer concert Hadleigh Community Choir takes to the stage: the repertoire is made up from a choice of songs and medleys taken from stage musicals. It is a varied programme of well-known and popular pieces widely recognised and then there are some lesser known and equally beautiful songs. Spoiler alert: Bohemian Rhapsody features and so do Les Miserables and Westside Story!
The concert is taking place on 15 July at 2pm for a matinee performance and 7 pm in the evening at the United Reformed Church in Hadleigh, ticket price £7.50 and £10.00 respectively. The evening performance is followed by a summer drinks reception at the Ansell Centre and the ticket includes a drink/refreshment at the reception. Tickets are available from Avis Newsagents, The Little Ginger Bee and Frankie’s along different stretches of the High Street or you can email us at contact-us@hadleighcommunitychoir.org.uk. At the Summer Concert we are saying good-bye to our Musical Director Sarah Gallop who has led the choir for six years and is now relocating after her recent marriage. Sarah has been a great asset to the choir and we will very much miss her, her quirky humour and her vigour in teaching the choir the music we are performing at each concert.

Singing is natural and singing in a group is proven to lift our spirits. Last autumn, the choir conducted a survey of its members to find out what works for them – one theme that came back a lot was that singing lifts their mood and being part of the choir stimulated their well-being, mentally and also physically. Once you have come to the concert and enjoyed the music there, you have all summer to work out a plan how you give it a go and then join us for a trial rehearsal when we come back after the summer break in September. Rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings, 7.15 p.m.- 9.00 p.m. at the United Reformed Church in Hadleigh. Newcomers can try a rehearsal or two to see if it suits them, nor prior singing experience required and you don’t even have to read music.
So – get your tickets and join us for our Summer Concert full of music known from stages on Broadway and in the West End of London!
