about me By 2001, midway into my five (5) years of high school, I already knew that I wanted to be a designer. Being only given the option of Architecture, I obtained an Associates of Arts Degree in Architectural Technology, from the Dominica State College. I taught basic architecture at high school level and worked as a designer/drafter at two local engineering firms on the island of Dominica. I developed a liking for landscape designing but didn't take it too serious at that point. In 2012, I decided it was time to move to a new level of education. I moved to the USA in pursuit if a BS. in Architecture. This was when my old passion for landscape design came to life again. Just driving around the city of Baltimore made me so excited about Landscape Architecture. I made my interest known in the field even before I was done with my undergraduate studies at Morgan State. After completing my undergraduate degree in Architecture, I began Graduate School in quest of a Master's of Landscape Architecture and completed the program in 2015. After these intense studies, in my own opinion, I believe that Landscape Architecture is, "a Fusion of Art, Design & Nature to further accommodate man’s desires to be one with God’s creation" -Hadley K Joseph-

Final Design
Dover Street Park
The Hill, located in the City of Easton MD, was recently discovered as the oldest free African American settlement in the United States of America. Preserving this historic gem was the sole goal of this project, while at the same time making it more sustainable and modern by enhancing its streetscape and improving existing green spaces while at the same time locating areas which could be turned into functioning outdoor and green spaces. This masterplan expresses the future streetscape design of The Hill; with enhanced street tree planting, sidewalks, bike lanes, aswell as travel and parking lanes. Intersections for also fitted with adquate crossing street calming devices to ensure pedestrian safety.

MARYLAND CHARLES STREET PARK
design principles and applications for creating healthy neighborhoods
Problem Finding & Concept Site Context This project seeks to create a Healthy Neighborhood with the aid of Landscape Design. After careful site study and research along with site visits, a design language was developed in order to guide the design of this new proposed park in the neighborhood of Old Goucher. The Old Goucher neighborhood is located in Baltimore MD, and is seen as a very mixed use area. This design was guided by elements that already existed on site and around it. Three main elements of the Old Goucher neighborhood were taken into consideration in the development of this design. These elements were some major characteristics of the area that gave it it’s own unique identity. These features are as follows..
Site Analysis
MEDIATION With the richness of people of different backgrounds, there is for these people coming together to socialize and share with each-other. The park was designed with the intention of bringing the people of Old Goucher together. CONNECTION It was seen in a site visit that Landscaping was used in some areas to connect various parts of the community. There were a significant amount of porch gardens connecting streets. This park was designed to connect Charles St. and Maryland Ave. EXPRESSIONS This design seeks to complement the existing feelings that one gets while walking through the area.It is designed to create new experiences in every area of the design.

MASTER'S THESIS/PROJECT (DOMINICA BOTANICAL GARDENS) reimagining the landscape of a national icon through placemaking
Overall Idea:
THEORY DIAGRAMS
The transformation of the old Dominica Botanical Gardens into a vibrant urban park that will improve its use by spreading the news and educating the masses on the use of green spaces on the island of Dominica and the entire Caribbean by extension. The Theory of Place Making is used to bring this project to life, along with the use of the existing topograpgy and large Iconic Trees to dictate the location of new pedestrian circulation paths and newly rehabilitated vehicular circulation roads and also the formation of newly programmed spaces within the site, hence the topic of this project: “Reimagining the Landscape of a National Icon Through Placemaking.

Placemaking: Inspires people to collectively reimagine and reinvent public spaces as the heart of every community. Strengthening the connection between people and the places they share, Placemaking refers to a collaborative process by which we can shape our public realm in order to maximize shared value. More than just promoting better urban design, Placemaking facilitates creative patterns of use, paying particular attention to the physical, cultural, and social identities that define a place and support its ongoing evolution. The Botanical Garden was established when Dominica was still a colony in the British Empire. The Crown Government began planning the gardens in 1889, with the goal of encouraging crop diversification and to provide farmers with correctly propagated seedlings. The 16 hectares of 39.5 acres of land, formerly a sugar plantation within Bath Estate, was sold to the government in 1891.

VIGNETTES
These images give a visual representation of what the designer is trying to achieve within this design. They show the design or redesign of key elements of the proposed project like the new addition of an entrance plaza and large circular decks installed under some of the largest and prominent trees within the site. this is what they would look like if constructed. With these visuals the design can be better understood by the average person who may have little to no knowledge of designing.

14. SELECTED PLANT MATERIAL
The research of this project took the designer over 1800 miles from Maryland to the island of Dominica. Many different kinds of exotic plant materials were studied on the island. the designer came up with a list of eight (8) plants the either exiting on the site at one point, or could be used there now that could be used in the restoration of the sites tree canopy. Because the site is located in the tropics, all of these selected plants are evergreen but produce a flower seasonally.
