I would like to say a very big thank you to all our customers who have supported us this year. The Box Office has been very busy with your enquiries and as a result we have seen more of you in our busy February to April season. If you haven’t booked with us for some time, just take a moment to consider our broad and varied programme which features household names such as Lee Mead, Joe McElderry and Josh Widdicombe alongside stimulating music from Stringfever, the Johnny Cash Roadshow and the Welsh group 9Bach. Drama is not forgotten with the Trials of Oscar Wilde, Pride and Prejudice and the wonderful Frapetsus returning with The Good, The Bad and The Welsh. We’re delighted to be presenting Mid Wales Opera’s 25th Anniversary production of Carmen. Directed by the incomparable Dr Jonathan Miller, join us for a steamy evening in 1930’s Seville. April sees us progressing with new developments, our Website will soon be fully bi-lingual and our evergrowing body of work with schools and community groups is about to feature on it too. Our Theatre Development Feasibility Study is in the process of being procured and I’m sure that this will support our vision of the future - a vibrant and active arts and entertainment base which all members of the community can enjoy, either as participants, audience members, attending a meeting or a conference, or simply to pop in for a casual meet up with friends over a cup of tea. We’re delighted to have assisted local groups in the selling of tickets for their local events. “We’ll certainly look to use your professional skills for us in the future, we couldn’t fault the service” (Llanidloes Rotary Club). We’re keen to increase the offer of this service, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Del in Marketing if you are interested in Hafren taking the strain out of putting on an event. Thank you as well to all our followers on Facebook, Twitter and via the Email service. It’s always interesting to catch up on your views, read your impromptu reviews and take part in a dialogue with customers. Very special congratulations to the couple who got engaged during the Rich Hall performance here in March. We wish you all the best! We cannot ignore the financial pressures being placed on our public services and we are very aware that we need to drive up income. Thank you to everyone who supports us, remember it’s really easy to support your local theatre – just buy a ticket. With some of the lowest ticket prices in the UK and one of the widest programmes to choose from, make Hafren your venue of choice for a good night out.

‘THE TRIALS OF OSCAR WILDE’ European Arts Company returns to The Hafren with a dramatisation of the libel and criminal trials of Oscar Wilde. Less than 100 days later, he found himself a common prisoner sentenced to two years hard labour.

So what happened during the trials and what did Wilde say? Was he persecuted or the author of his own downfall? LORRAINE KITT
September - Mid November 2014 Lorraine Kitt is an artist living and working in Mid Wales. She studied at Watford College of Art and worked as a freelance designer, also teaching at I.L.E.A. evening classes at Hampstead. After opening a studio/gallery in Kensington with her artist husband, Alwyn Kitt, they worked there for a couple of years before moving to Wales and opening The Welsh Gallery in Abergavenny, showing work by about twenty of Wales’ painters and sculptors. Although Lorraine has always painted all subject matters, Welsh and more recently, French landscapes have always been her preferred choice. Working in watercolours and also in oils on linen panel boards, which is a traditional method that she favours over canvas as it provides a more durable surface. Lorraine also has a selection of limited edition prints available to buy from her website, www.lorrainekittpaintings.com.
TRACY ANNE SMITH, PAULINE BRIDGES STICKLAND & JEAN BARRATT Early September - Mid November 2014
Tracy Anne Smith Over the last 10 years I have Graduated with an Art Degree by attending the School of Art in Aberystwyth and also improved my learning skills in attaining a PGCE FE. These qualifications have enabled me to confidently design teaching lessons with an enthusiastic and spontaneous student outcome. I am constantly inspired by the complex formation of rooftops and town houses. My unique style of painting provokes an abstract sense of playful geometric shape and colour. Pauline Bridges Stickland In the words of my 98 year old mother, Rose Mary Rebecca Chaplin, “I love painting. So much I cannot stop!”..... She is right - it does become addictive. I paint purely for pleasure and thoroughly enjoy the thrill when seeming to get it right as sometimes happens when your imagined subject materialises quite pleasingly. Jean Barratt Jean is a self-taught artist retired from a long career in nursing. She now has time to indulge her love of colour and produces vibrant inspired paintings full of life and passion. Her work is contrasted with the talented work of her friends.

Gallwch hefyd archebu seddau ymlaen llaw a bydd y rhain yn cael eu cadw am bum diwrnod gwaith. Mae’n ddrwg gan Hafren na all y seddau gael eu cadw os na fydd tâl wedi’i dderbyn o fewn y cyfnod hwn. Bydd eich galwadau i archebu dros y ffôn yn cael eu hailgyfeirio i beiriant ateb yn ystod 30 munud cyn perfformiadau er mwyn galluogi staff y Swyddfa Docynnau i ddelio gydag ymwelwyr sy’n cyrraedd. E-BOST boxoffice@theatrhafren.co.uk AD-DALIADAU A CHYFNEWIDIADAU Mae Hafren yn gwerthfawrogi ymrwymiad cwsmeriaid i’r theatr trwy archebu’n gynnar ar gyfer achlysuron ac yn cydnabod y gall newidiadau ddigwydd o ran cynlluniau. Mewn achos o’r fath, os bydd tocynnau’n cael eu dychwelyd i’r swyddfa docynnau, gwnawn bob ymdrech i’w hailwerthu i gwsmeriaid eraill. Ni ellir sicrhau hyn gan y bydd tocynnau’r theatr yn cael eu gwerthu’n gyntaf. Os bydd y theatr yn llwyddo i ail-werthu’r tocynnau, bydd y swyddfa docynnau’n trefnu credyd i chi am werth y tocynnau, i chi ei ddefnyddio wrth archebu unrhyw docynnau yn y dyfodol. Bydd y trefniant hwn yn gymwys
ar gyfer y prynwr gwreiddiol y tocynnau. Yn anffodus, yn unol â mwyafrif o theatrau proffesiynol eraill, nid yw’n bosibl gwneud ad-daliadau ariannol am docynnau sydd wedi’u prynu eisoes. PRISIAU TOCYNNAU MANTAIS A CHYFRADDAU ARBENNIG Lle dangosir hynny, bydd tocynnau mantais ar gael i blant, myfyrwyr, pobl dros 60, unigolion sydd wedi’u cofrestru’n anabl (gan gynnwys gofalwyr) a’r di-waith.
