The design aims to elevate the transition space, the Alley, between two forests as well as to compliment the elegancy of falling leaves in foliage season. The corridor is inviting everyone to experience the journey in the diversity of forests, colours and lights. It is also spatially sufficient for medium group of people, such as events, educational site visits and celebrations. The feature roof stimulates the experience of Freefall forest in its foliage season. It sure will become an attractive landmark, a picnic destination and functional eventsspace for everyone in all ages and genders.

- ART One of the most exciting events in Queanbeyan is the annual Queanbeyan Art Trail. It leads visitors to a variety of studios and galleries of local artists. The majority of destination is in CBD, Queanbeyan East and a few in Jerrabomberra. Bicentennial Park potentially can become one of the art destinations included in Queanbeyan Art Trail.

In the Queanbeyan Draft Masterplan Report, public arts such as sculptures are introduced as town activation and identity making. Proposed themes of public arts. They vary: Heritage, Fine Art, Country Town and Friendly Town and they varying to different locations as shown in the diagram above. Theme of artworks in Bicentennial Park is proposed as ‘Reconnective Landscape’ Landscape with the aim to emphasise Queanbeyan’s commitment to the enviroment.
Bicentennial Park is proposed as an outdoor art venue which exhibits both permanet and also temporary sculptures. This is also an opportunities for local artists to contribute in making indentity for not only Bicentennial Park but also Queanbeyan. The proposed artworks follows the theme ‘Reconnective Landscape’ which ideally either constructed by natural elements or artistic representation of nature.
- ACCESS The City of Queanbeyan is located immediately adjacent to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), approximately 300km south-west of Sydney and 250km south-west of Wollongong. Located on a major arterial road (Route 52), the CBD has excellent road connections to Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney, as well as the eastern coastline.
Bicentennial Park, Queanbeyan
+ Bicentennial Park is the closest natural park to the Queanbeyan CBD and surrounding residential areas. Queanbeyan’s demography is young family, so that families with young children will more likely prefer park with children’s playground with essential facilities. Bicentennial Park offer opportunities for students coming from nearby schools to learn about the woodland and grassland.
Bicentennial Park is in an ideal location since it is just a 3 minute drive and 10 minute ride away from the CBD. Bicycle trail is proposed in the masterplan as a way to link people to the park as well as encourage Queanbeyan residents to approach a greener and healthier lifestyle.

PROPOSED GREEN CORRIDOR ON BENJAMIN WAY
BAC is in a key location between Emu Bank as a hospitality precinct and Benjamin Way as the main access to nearby shopping mall and government departments. This suggests an opportunity to connect Benjamin Way to the waterfront which allows visitors, users from bus interchange on Lathlain Street, public servants to access to the BAC. Benjamin Way will no longer be a dull and underused median; it will become a revitalizing urban c o r r i d o r , o u t d o o r r e c r e a t i o n s p a c e w h i c h w i l l b r i n g s o c i a l a n d h e a l t h b e n e fi t s t o B e l c o n n e n r e s i d e n t s . ‘Green corridor’ will improve aesthetics and reputation of Belconnen as a livable suburb in Canberra.
