Tennis US OPEN ROUND ROBIN September 4th The Haig Point Tennis Center is pleased to announce the US Open Round Robin will be held on Saturday, September 4, from 9:00 – 11:00. This Labor Day event is always a lot of fun, and following the tennis, the participants will enjoy a fun and tasty ice cream social.
HAIG POINT CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP October 25th - 31st It’s not too early to start planning for Haig Point Tennis Club Championship to be played the week of October 25 - 31. The tournament is divided into NTRP ratings and will offer competition in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Entrants will receive distinctive welcome gifts; winners and finalists will receive great prizes. Contact the tennis center for more information and to register.

All the great players have it: the crucial move that starts the service motion. Do you know what it is? Take a close look at the better servers, and you will see the service motion usually begins with a slight shoulder rotation. Even before the toss starts its movement, a small turn of the shoulders will create a bit of tension in the upper body. That tension is released as the motion begins to uncoil.

Equestrian A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Fall is the best time of year on the island and what better way to enjoy it than on horseback. We said goodbye to our dear Poppy who went to live with a family who foxhunts, a much better fit for her than lessons. With our addition of two new lesson horses, Easy and Sage, we are excited about building them into our program. Our lesson and trail ride schedule will alter slightly this month to accommodate later ride times given the cooler temperatures. For scheduling lessons/ pony rides moving forward, please email aclark@haigpoint.com. For trail rides, please email csistek@haigpoint.com. Remember that any scheduled ride does require 24-hour notice for changes/ cancelations to avoid full charge.
KIDS' HORSE CLINIC Saturday, September 18th | 2 PM 1 hour. A great event for anyone new to horses or riding. Learn the basics of horsemanship and barn etiquette from the Equestrian Staff. Topics covered will range from becoming comfortable around equines, grooming, feeding and tacking. $45 per person | Minimum 3 participants
