MLA Thesis: Gas Works Park My thesis work at the University of Washington was focused on studying the soils, hydrology and persistent coal byproduct contamination at Gas Works Park in conjunction with existing research on the applications of phytoremediation. The goal of the project was to determine the potential need for phytoremediation at Gas Works Park and envision how implementation would look, feel and function.

Greenwich Peninsula: Design District Working with Knight Dragon Development and Assemblage DESIGN DISTRICT TREE OPTIONS Architects, Schulze+Grassov provided the layout and design of public spaces and working courtyards in London’s new purpose-built Design District. Spatial constraints and capped requirements DESIGN DISTRICT TREEthe OPTIONS contaminated soils limit trees that can be planted within upright, narrow habit the district. Careful tree selection and placement• is essential • shallow and/or lateral to gaining maximum benefits from trees, for aesthetic and root system • tolerant to compaction, climatic purposes.

Stillaguamish Tribe: Entry Round-About In collaboration with in-house civil engineers and transportation designers, SCJ Studio created concepts for the new entry round-about on 236th Street NE leading toward the Angel of the Winds Casino. Using a native plant palette and design elements that incorporate running water and kinetic sculpture we proposed a sequence of stepped water features framed by wind sculptures, leading to a central water table. The project is currently in the funding acquisition phase, the render is being used as a supplemental illustration to gain support from the Casino Board of Directors. Reading the Elwha A botanical journey through a landscape in flux Legacies from 1900s settlers, the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams were removed between 2011-2014. The removal of the dams released tons of sediment from 100 year old lakes formed by the dams. The drastic change in the river has had an immense impact on local flora and fauna. On a five day exploration through the watershed I identified and photographed as many plant species as I could, focusing on the most striking specimens. The end result was a catalogue of the changing diversity and species from ridge line down to river, and out to estuary.
