In 2012, Rodrick Samuels and Lauren Moser began co-teaching as independents at hair shows and pop up education events around the country. Through this journey of blending teaching styles they realized that their combined expertise in the barber and beauty industry created a balance of knowledge and personal style that allowed them to offer an learning opportunity unlike any other advanced education available in our industry. In 2013 Hair Lab Detroit was born. While we search for the perfect space to grow our vision, Hair Lab Detroit is operated as a pop up. This concept is popular for restaurants and retail vendors and we believe it is a perfect way to introduce ourselves. The Hair Lab Academy is an epicenter for higher learning in the art of hairdressing. As artists and professionals, we believe that success comes to those that invest in themselves. The Lab The Lab is the place for growth and experiment. Education offered through The Lab defies the norm and takes your advanced education to the next level at a very appealing price point. As a supplement to our Advanced Education, we will be offering various Lab sessions throughout the year. These events will be announced a month in advance via our web site and social media sites. For a nominal fee you will spend an evening with the Hair Lab Team for various themed events such as small group jam sessions, mini photo shoots, job fairs, business forums, networking events and much more. In addition to these events, the Hair Lab Detroit team is also available for tutoring and in salon group training in any area of the beauty industry that you wish to focus and excel. The Team For the past 15 years Lauren Moser has spent nearly every day as a day maker to each and every one of her clients. Her passion and attention to detail have allowed her to experience success in all of her endeavors in the personal appearance industry. In 2011, Lauren took a position with Scissor Candy of Philadelphia as the Detroit liaison for their inspirational Open Chair events. She is proud to be part of such an amazing team that strives every day to bring inspiration and culture to the world of hair. Her recent North American Hairstyling Award Nomination, for the Texture category, has catapulted her into the spotlight alongside some of the most talented artists in our industry. Lauren has immersed herself in editorial styling for nearly a decade. She has trained at the Aveda Advanced Academy New York in both editorial and runway styling, and has used her education to propel her career as a freelance editorial stylist and educator. Her education style will energize and inspire you to be confident in your creations. She believes that hair is an artistic expression and loves to share her knowledge of editorial hairdressing to help guide you in creating your artistic vision. Lauren will not only give you the techniques you need to know to become a confident editorial stylist, but the knowledge of how to best utilize your work with your digital portfolio.
