HAISLA DAYS is this weekend! It’s time to get together, chat and eat. And if you are lucky (and 17+ years of age), win a door prize! Don't forget the kids bike parade and of course, the men vs. women tug of war! Note: Because of Haisla soccer field repairs, field events will be held at Riverlodge this year.

Register for Indian Day School Lawsuit is a Class Action lawsuit against the Canadian government for the abuses suffered by students who were forced to attend ‘Indian Day Schools’ across Canada after 1920. This is a national Class Action seeking compensation for Indian Day School students and their families. Meet interim HNC Communications Coordinator Hello! My name is Sarah Artis and I live in Terrace with my husband and two daughters, ages 8 and 4. I run Sarah & Company Communications and while Cameron Orr, HNC's Communications Coordinator, is on paternity leave for a year, I will be helping with Haisla communications. For example, I’ll be posting news on the Facebook pages and putting together this newsletter. If you see me walking around taking photos or asking lots of questions, now you know why! Please be patient with me as I learn the ropes over the next couple months - and please introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting many of you. If you want to know more about me, please go to my company website www.sarahancompany.ca 14

Haisla LNG conference a big success! The 2019 Haisla LNG Conference & Tradeshow took place over three days from April 2 to 4. The event was sold out far in advance, with approximately 500 people attending and almost 140 exhibitors at the Trade Show. The event featured two days of speakers at the Riverlodge Centre and two days of a tradeshow at the Tamitik Arena. There were also three evening events including the opening reception, a Haisla business partners dinner at the Golf Club, and on the final evening, the closing banquet.
As leadership, it is our job to seek out solutions for our membership. We take comfort in knowing we are making decisions to improve the situation of our members. Some say LNG is selling out. We’ve sold up! Frankly, we don’t have enough members to fulfill every opportuity.” - Haisla Chief Crystal Smith “Many companies don’t understand that business is different now. Procurement is part of it. It’s not a nice to have anymore. It’s a requirement.” - Haisla CEO Jason Majore
“Economic development for a Nation is more like a social enterprise. If we don’t have the money to improve our education, or improve the health of our members, they won’t be able “Industry has the potential to change lives and to take advantage of opportunities. I see ecochange communities. The change is today but nomic development as a catalyst to help support members in anything they want to do. ” the impacts are generational. That’s why we - Haisla Economic Development Manager, support the work of industry in our community Tony Brady and why continue to hold events like this. 16
