Billy, the bear, has a big head, blue eyes and a black nose. His hair is white and soft. He has big paws.

Today is Friday. It’s windy and cold, and Billy isn’t going to school. He’s at home because he’s ill.

7 Billy’s dad is a teacher. He has many students. Billy’s mom is a nurse. She works in a hospital near Billy’s school. - Where are you going, Mom?, asks Billy. - To the Hospital. I’ve got to work, says Mom. - May I go with you?, asks Billy. - Sorry, you can’t come with me today because you’re ill.

8 Mom gives Billy a kiss and goes to work. - Where are you going, Dad?, asks Billy. - To school. My children have a test today, says Dad. - May I go with you? - Oh, no, Billy, it’s windy and cold and you have a fever! Dad gives him a hug and goes to work.

11 Billy feels sad because he can’t go out.

Riiiiiing!… the bell rings. Who is it? It’s Jack, one of Billy’s friends! - Hi, Billy! How are you?, asks Jack. - I’m ill and I can’t go out, but we can play at homesays Billy.

12 Billy and Jack start watching “Batman”. They love Superheroes!

15 Clickety clack! The door opens. Who is it? It’s Mom and Dad. They are back home. - Hello, children! What are you watching?

Shhhhhh! Quiet, please!

16 Mom and Dad can’t talk, so they go to the kitchen and open the fridge. Mom takes Billy and Jack a tray with two glasses of chocolate milk and a plate full of biscuits. - Here you are, children!

18 - Thanks! You can stay with us and watch Batman together! But Mom and Dad don´t like superheroes, so they go back to the kitchen and sit at the table to have a nice cup of warm coffee. At six o´clock, the telephone rings. It´s Jack´s mom. He has to go back home. - Don´t be sad, Billy, tomorrow we can watch many films because it´s Saturday! Billy and Jack love superheroes and they love Saturdays too. Don’t you?

This is my favourite superhero:

Hello! I’m Tammy. I’m a friendly, green frog and Crystal River is my home.

22

This is Nacho and he’s a cricket. Crystal River is also his home.

Tammy and Nacho watch Pedro and his children getting ready to start fishing. The boat isn’t new, but the boys love it because it has got their names painted on it.

23

24 Tammy and Nacho don’t go fishing. At night, when the sky is full of stars and the moon shines on the waters of Crystal River, they sit on a rock and sing songs.

25 Pedro and his children come back from fishing and bring a basket full of fish. Oh, look, Mom has made a big fire! - I can carry the basket! I’m strong- says Allan. - I can carry it because I’m strong too! -says Brian. - Stop it, boys!- says Mom. Why don’t you carry the basket between you two?

Tonight, the sky is full of stars and the moon is shining on the waters of Crystal River. Tammy sits on a rock and Nacho sits on top of her back. They start singing songs that only the frogs and the crickets sing. And tell me: what songs can you sing?

These are the holidays I wish to have:

Frank is a brown fox. He lives in the countryside. Look, he’s going up a tree! Up and up he goes…and what does he see?

Aha! It’s Mrs. Bird’s nest. Frank counts the eggs in the nest: one, two, three, four and five. Watch it, Frank, Mrs. Bird is coming!

31

- What are you doing, bad fox! says Mrs. Bird and he has to go down the tree. Down, down he goes.

32

Frank has to find some food, so he starts walking. The sweet voice of someone singing, attracts his attention; but he's afraid of people, so he hides behind the bushes.

From there, he sees Family Romano having a picnic. Mom is singing to Baby Anita and the girls are eating a sandwich. Is there any chicken? Are there any eggs to eat? But Frank can't see very well...

34

“Oh, oh, suddenly it starts raining!” Little rain drops fall on Baby Anita’s face. Mom gets into the jeep because she doesn’t want her to get wet. But Anita’s sisters don’t mind getting wet and they love dancing in the rain, so they start dancing, until Dad says: - Get into the jeep, girls! Hurry up!

All the family gets quickly into the jeep‌ but they forget the picnic basket.

Sniff, sniff, Frank smells the food. There’s an apple, three bananas, two chocolate bars, red tomatoes and potato chips. - I don’t like fruit; I don’t like chocolate and I don’t like chips at all! I’m a fox and I’m very hungry!

37

It’s night-time now and inside the farm, Mom, Dad, Baby Anita and her sisters are sleeping. Inside the hen-house, the cock and all the hens are sleeping too. Frank goes near the hen-house, but he cannot go inside because it’s locked up.

38

- Woof, woof, woof! -the farmer’s dog sees Frank. Hurry up, Frank and go away! The farmer’s dog doesn’t like you. Too bad, poor fox, no food for you today!

This is the pet that I would like to have:

Paul is a small, short penguin. His body is black and white. His eyes are also black. He has two short legs and two wings, but he doesn’t fly. Penguins are birds, but they can’t fly.

This is Tim, Paul’s dad. They are on a tour in Patagonia, Argentina. When they get to the airport and Paul sees the helicopter, he says: I´m afraid of flying, Daddy!

43

Don’t be afraid - says Dad. Flying is so exciting!

44

Alberto Díaz, the pilot, is waiting for them. He says: Please, take a seat and fasten your seat-belts. The sky is blue and it’s a sunny day. The helicopter isn’t flying very high and the pilot points to his passengers: Look at the mountains covered with snow. They are so big and beautiful!

46 Paul isn’t afraid now, and he looks through the window. Alberto points out: - Look! There’s a big lake down there, but people do not swim in the lake because the waters are very, very cold. As Paul and Dad live in Antarctica, they swim in very cold waters everyday. Paul asks the pilot: - What are those people doing?

- They are practising water-skiing. That’s great fun! Before the helicopter lands, Alberto says: - Thank you for flying with me!. - Flying is exciting, but I prefer swimming in Antarctica - says Paul ‌ and they all laugh.

These are the sports I like to play:

Mom and Dad take care of Billy, Billy Bear. We want him to recover soon so that he can go to school

Billy is feeling bored, but luckily for him they’re playing on T.V. a Superheroes’ film.

IT’S DONNA’S PARTY

THERE’S A MOUSE IN THE HOUSE!

WE LOVE FLYING

Plenty of water and soap so I can wear new clothes to go to Donna’s party, it’s her birthday party.

Brad, the white mouse, lives in a big house; he loves cheese and he loves bread but they’re hard to get because no one likes to have a white mouse inside the house…oh, no!

Just look at me: what do you see? I’ve got a new T-shirt, I’ve got new trainers, I’ve got new blue jeans and I’m happy as can be ‘cause it’s Donna’s party, it’s her birthday party.

Help!, Mom cries, I’ve seen a mouse; he ran away, I know he did; the question is where he is now; I do not like to have a mouse inside the house

It’s a sunny day and the sky is blue; this is good for me and it’s good for you because we’re flying, and we love flying!

I will meet my friends; We shall sing and play because it’s Donna’s party, it’s her birthday party.

Tic Tac, wake up! You lazy cat! Go catch the mouse inside the house because no one, surely no one likes to have a mouse inside the house… Oh, no!

Don’t be afraid, enjoy the day… Up and up we go over the mountain tops and we love flying! Open your eyes: there’s a lot to see. In this whole wide world nothing can compare to the lovely time when we are flying `cause we love flying!
