Finish fireplace mantel without obstructing TV view. Client does not want a wood mantel. Mantel should compliment existing tile & surrounding finishes.

Add storage on either side of the fireplace. Incorporate drawers & cabinets. Design for adjustable shelving to accommodate 11" x 14" albums. Be mindful of the window and electrical outlets.

Offer finishes that compliment the low natural light during the date. Client does not want white cabinets but prefers neutrals such as navy blue for cabinetry.

Incorporate art work with heavy bordered framing. Sizing to be confirmed upon secondary client meeting. Designer to potentially source custom frames to fit artwork.

Incorporate audio sub without obstructing sound. Design to offer an open shelving component as well as a secondary option for flexibility & concealed sub when not in use. Position of base to be confirmed during secondary client meeting.

IMAGE 3 IMAGE 3 Cabinetry with the optional sliding or pocket cabinet door to offer a hidden feature for the audio sub was thought out carefully. Due to dust build up and the confinement regarding hardware positioning, I've decided to keep cabinet doors as typical hinged front faced cabinets without a sliding feature.
INSPIRATION IMAGE 4 An optional design feature placing drawers in the otherwise wasted space for additional storage for games. etc. Additional $200.00 +HST appx. per kickplate drawer from Hinged Cabinetry.

While we explored the furniture option, ultimatly due to the custom sizes on either side of the fireplace and scale of the space, millwork was decided to be best suited for the design and maximize the amount of storage space available to the client.

DESIGN PROPOSAL FEATURES Cabinet Style Although there is low natural light in the space, there are large windows for ambient lighting and light tones throughout. Adding contrasting, symmetrical millwork to either side of the fireplace will help anchor the fireplace & make the wall a main focus. Ensuring the design is symmetrical will compliment the already symmetrical layout of the home. Sub will be hidden behind panel doors and can be opened when in use. Best for overall clean design look and reduced "cluttered" look.
Paint Options The Benjamin Moore paint finish eggshell finish, low polish. Blue/green hues tie together various artworks & add colour to the space by anchoring the fireplace with cusom shaker cabinetry doors and drawers on either sides. Cabinet doors are keps as pairs due to maximum door sizing at 24" and therefore the option of 27" wide doors would voice any hardware warranty and overtime door panels would begin to sag.
Hardware Combining two different hardware options in the same finish will add detail to the design. A brushed nickel or stainless steel will add a natural tone to compliment the paint finish without standing out & being overpowering.

DESIGN PROPOSAL FEATURES Fireplace Mantel & Counter In order to avoid building towards the ceiling & risk the chance of obstructing the tv, we can miter the quartz stone to have over with a thick mantel profile.

Final selection is ST Quartz Calacatta. The warm veins compliment the natural wall tones and existing tile in the fireplace. The white background in the quartz allows light to reflect back into the space which will help with the low light conditions existing. While quartz is a manmade material, should client decide to use appliances ie. coffee makers or air fryers, consider protecting the stone with trivets. A slab layout can be completed at Stonex to verify the possible veining options, You can present the following layout to capture veining patterns along all sides of the 6" mantle. A thick mantle was selected to enhance the large scale of the fireplace and large tile existing.
