Why are agencies and HR departments embracing mobile?

70% of people living in the UK have their mobiles with them at all times. Mobile messaging has a 12% response rate, compared with between 2% and 3% for direct mail and generates spontaneous brand recall at 12%, as apposed to 6% for radio and 7% for TV. Huge budgets are required for TV and print advertising yet neither can target consumers a specifically as mobile or give brands the direct channel to interact with candidates that mobile delivers. My Job Group get truly mobile My Job Group is the fastest growing network of regional jobsites in the UK. Each site serves just one region, with recruiters reaching a truly relevant local audience and candidates being able to search and apply online for relevant jobs within their local area. My Job Group appointed Zappy Mobile to build ten fully interactive mobile websites for ten of the My Job Group’s range of regional job board sites. They wanted to develop a mobile presence that would also attract the tens-of-thousands of unique users and millions of hits every month experienced on their online sites. The objective of this mobile offering to enable the local jobsite concept to embrace both job seekers and recruiters as a major resource for finding employment/quality candidates within their chosen region.

The My Job Group mobile recruitment sites have been designed to be very quick and simple to use, as well as being extremely cost effective and enabling them to generate instant results.

paid for advertising banners on their new mobile sites. The sites have been fully integrated into the jobs and user data feeds to allow the mobile sites to operate as consistently as possible with their main online sites. The same usernames and passwords on each platform were used to allow a candidate to attach a saved CV from the My Job Group server to an application generated off the mobile website to fulfil the request.

The full service mobile functionality includes, ‘Apply,’ ‘Send to my email’ and ‘Register with us’ facilities to enhance the candidate experience. In addition, a ROI opportunity utilising a banner advertising facility has also been included to enable My Job Group to place

Is your business

missing a trick? Introducing an advertising banner on to your mobile website is the perfect solution to generate not only additional revenue, but also enables you to offer clients a new route to the candidate market. The system is a secure back office module that is built around the mobile site. A user can login to the system and is able to simply and quickly edit, add, delete and schedule banner adverts for their clients. The system allows the user

to place static and animated banners in designated positions throughout the site including on all of the main feature pages.

In addition, the system can also classify these adverts to appear only when certain preferences are selected, for example, a large bank may wish to advertise but only to people who are searching for banking jobs in a specific area. The advert can be classified to appear when these preferences are selected to

ensure that it is target specific to the right candidate audience. The system also offers a weighting function with a rotational display. This means that if you have more than one advertiser and one is paying more than the other you can weight and rotate the adverts accordingly to ensure that the highest paying advert appears more frequently.

A new twist to alerting

your job seekers If you currently use SMS as a method of alerting job seekers about a specific role, have you considered taking the process a stage further by utilising a WAP alerts module? This provides recruiters with the opportunity to send individual and bulk graphic rich broadcast campaigns using WAP messages that are not restricted by the 160 character

length applicable to SMS. In addition, you could even include corporate or advertiser branding to generate revenue and selffund a campaign. Typically a WAP alerts module is used to send job alerts to a list of profiled mobile numbers that match the vacancy. The branded

WAP message features the full job specification and an ‘Apply’ button enabling the recipient to enquire instantly. This is the preferred option for many of our clients as the message is more powerful and the call to action simple, quick and direct.

Microsoft innovation focuses on the mobile consumer

Microsoft Corp recently announced that they are adopting and deploying their own software and services worldwide through the mobile phone channel. In a keynote address at Mobile World Congress 2008 Microsoft announced the news explaining their vision and demonstrating the capabilities of their mobile strategy. A spokesman said, “We believe wherever you go, your phone should bring your world with you. Microsoft will build upon our current offerings to business users by delivering a whole new range of experiences to mobile consumers.” Part of Microsoft’s focus to help more people worldwide take advantage of increasingly powerful mobile technology is to enable new entertaining, commerce and interactive experiences. 03

Your jobs in millions of pockets Isn’t it time your jobs got mobile?

Extending your recruitment process to the mobile channel means candidates don’t have to be at their desk to make that all-important job search. Instead, they can use their mobile to get access to your jobs privately, wherever they are 24/7. Increasingly, Agencies, Job Boards, Company HR Departments and Recruitment Technology providers are looking to enhance their existing digital channels by providing this fast and measurable route to market.
