why basecamp Iceland Off the beaten track Taking our guests off the beaten track to visit the unfrequented corners of Iceland is for us just one of the perks of guiding small group tours. With years of experience exploring everything from the black sands and lava-fields of the lowlands to snow-covered peaks of the highlands in all kinds of conditions, we have the tools and expertise to go wherever your heart desires. Culture Accompanied by an expert guide and just a handful of like-minded guests, our tours take you to areas inaccessible to larger groups, allowing you to meet and interact with locals and explore places that aren’t on the must-see- maps or bucket-list tours. We want to introduce you the authentic Iceland, and leave you with an experience that will stay with you long after your visit ends. Food Enjoying local produce and seasonal menus is a special treat for guests and guides alike. All our full-day tours take in a wide selection of local restaurants which make it their mission to use the freshest and best local produce so we are sure to find some to fit your schedule and taste every time. At your pace We tailor our private and small-group tours to the constantly changing conditions so you will never feel rushed when the atmosphere is just right or trapped when the weather takes an unexpected turn. Likewise, adjusting our tours to the seasonal light means you can enjoy the sunset at 3 pm in midwinter or finish a tour with a coffee under the midnight sun in summer. Icelandic nature changes all the time, so we stay flexible to get the most out of those changes. Responsible travel Smaller groups means less impact on both the environment and local culture. Basecamp Iceland makes a special effort to support local producers and small businesses from farm restaurants to wool manufacturers. We exist to provide the opportunity to explore, learn and experience, rather than to change the dynamics of Iceland´s small villages or the way of life in the countryside.
