Honorary Alumni Award Nancy Peters
President, Metropolitan Process Service Nancy Peters graduated from Immaculata High School in Detroit, MI. For 13 years, Nancy served as a legal secretary for law firms in Detroit. At 31, she had her only daughter Lindsay. She then split her time between being a mother and running the family business started by her husband, Craig Peters. When Craig passed away in 2003, Nancy became President of Metropolitan Process Service. Her small business employs 17 people and has been serving the legal community since 1971. Education is important to Nancy since she did not have the opportunity to go college. Health communication research is specifically a priority to Nancy as a way to memorialize her husband, who was on a kidney donation waiting list, but passed away before receiving his kidney donation. Nancy provided a gift to the MSU Health and Risk Communication Center to establish the Craig Peters Fund for Organ Donation Research. Her efforts have supported the Health and Risk Communication Center in furthering research of communication issues around organ donation and pursuing partnerships with medical doctors to help educate the public about organ donation.

J. Christopher Preuss
BA ‘91 Journalism & Political Science Solving difficult problems and being the “go to” executive in crisis situations has been a hallmark of the 23-year communications career of Chris Preuss. Blending a unique background of agency, marketing, policy and global corporate communications experience, Preuss was a key player in GM’s epic bankruptcy and restructuring, leading the European communications operations prior to the bankruptcy, and then managing the huge organizational change in the time after the restructuring as the Vice President of Global Communications. He most recently had the distinction of moving from the role of a lead communications counselor to a CEO, to actually being a chief executive at GM’s OnStar subsidiary. There he piloted a major restructuring of the OnStar business, pulling the technology into the realm of social media and launching OnStar into retail outlets with advent of “OnStar Anywhere.” He’s now blended these unique career experiences with the launch of TRUSTrategies, a communications consultancy aimed at dealing with restructuring, crisis and corporate reputation challenges.
