Good evening everyone,
Welcome back to Lakeview for tonight’s Toolstation Western League Division one fixture with Gillingham Town FC. We offer a warm welcome as usual to their supporters & officials along with the three match officials too, hoping they have a safe journey home.
While results have been disappointing this season, I don’t think anyone could have seen Saturday’s defeat at Cadbury Heath coming. The lads will have to just put that one behind them now but it wasn’t a great day for the club losing by a double figure score.
Whilst our search for that elusive first win continues, we would like to thank you for your support, it means a lot to the lads as they battle each week.

Bishop Sutton Club History
The club was re-formed in 1977 with just an U15 team playing in the Weston-superMare Sunday League and then progressing in successive seasons to the Bristol and Avon League U16s and the second and first divisions before being admitted into the Somerset Senior League for the 1981-82 season.
The next ten years were spent climbing through the four divisions before being voted into the Western League for season 1991-92. The First Division was won in 1997-98 and then followed seventeen successive seasons in the Premier Division, the highlight being winning the Premier title in 2012-13.
Unfortunately our ground grading did not permit progression to the Southern League and all the team management and players then left the club. Relegation from the Premier followed at the end of season 2014-15 and we have experienced mixed fortunes in the First Division since then.
For the season 2020-21 Jon Toy came in as manager but unfortunately we were only able to play 10 games before the season was curtailed due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Having retained a lot of last season’s squad and added a couple of new players, we finished in mid table in season 2021/22 followed by seventh place last season. Jon left in the summer and was replaced by Catalin Andrei and Steve Taylor.

GILLINGHAM TOWN FC
The club was established on 19th November 1879 at the Phoenix Hotel in Gillingham.
A successful period starting in the mid 1960’s saw us win the Dorset League four times in five years. In 1970 we moved up to the Dorset Combination League. We finished bottom of the league in 1983-84, but avoided relegation.
In 2001-02 we won the league cup beating Westland Sports 2-1 in the final. We were the league runners up the following season, the first after the league was renamed the Dorset Premier League. After finishing as runners up again in 2007-08, we were then promoted to Division One of the Toolstation Western League.
In 2009-10 we won the Dorset Senior Cup, beating Wimborne Town 2-1 in the final after extra time. A third place finish in Division one in 2011-2012 saw us promoted to the Premier Division.
Despite finishing ninth in the division in 2016-17 we resigned from the Western League and dropped back to the DPL, due to the move to WoodWater.
Last season , with WoodWater now more or less to where it should be, we gained promotion back to Division One of the Toolstation Western League.
This season sees a new team with an under-23 side in the HDCL playing on Thursday evenings and for the second season, we hosted GTYFC under-18’s playing on a Sunday.
