FROM THE CHAIRMAN...

Good Evening One & All,

This evening is Helston Athletic’s final home fixture of the 22/23 season and I can think of no better way to finish things off than with a potential cup thriller as we welcome the players, officials and supporters of Buckland Athletic Football Club to Kellaway Park. An extended welcome also to our match officials Timothy Burley, David Dodson and Scott Coutts.

With both teams heading into this evenings match in rich form something has to give to establish who will proceed to play Ilfracombe Town in the semi-final of this seasons Les Philips Cup. Should the scores be level after ninety minutes the tie will be settled by penalties. There is no extra time this evening.

Whilst on the theme of cups may I record a massive thank you to everyone who travelled to St Blazey on Easter Monday to support and witness Helston win the Cornwall FA Senior Cup for the first time in eightyseven years. Although not a great spectacle of a match congratulations to Matt and all for getting the job done. For those wanting to view the cup close up, it can be found on the bar.

Although having no game last Sunday, congratulations also go to Helston Athletic Women who are now confirmed as champions of the Cornwall Women’s League. This forthcoming Friday the team will be looking to complete an amazing double by retaining The Cornwall FA Women’s Cup when they take on Liskeard Athletic Women at AFC St Austell. Please do come and support the team. Kick off is at 7:30pm.

With this evening being the final home fixture may I sign off with a huge thank you to everyone whose has represented and / or supported the club this season. A special mention to all sponsors and advertisers along with those who give up their time to ensure Helston Athletic Football Club is now recognised both as major trophy winners and a club at the heart of its community.

Wishing everyone a good evening, enjoyable closed season and most importantly, look forward to welcoming everyone back to do it all again starting in July.

Paul Hendy (Chairman)
