FROM THE CHAIRMAN...

Good Evening One & All,

Having gone three weeks not having to compose notes for a match-day programme, here I am at the keyboard again for a second time in just four days. As the saying goes 'You wait ages for a bus, then……...'

Having hosted several midweek cup fixtures already this season, this evening we welcome the players, officials and supporters of Buckland Athletic Football Club to Kellaway Park for what I’m confident will be an enthralling Les Philips Cup quarter final tie. An extended welcome also to our match officials William Annear, David Dodson and Scott Coutts. The winners of this evenings match will travel to Marlborough Park, the home of Ilfracombe Town, on Monday 1st May.

Following Saturdays first team victory over Clevedon Town, it was great to witness both Helston Athletic Women and Helston Athletic Development Squad overcome tricky semi-final opponents on Sunday to reach The Cornwall FA Women’s County Cup and Cornwall Combination League Cup finals respectively. Congratulations to both teams in joining Helston First’s, U18’s and U16’s who themselves have made it through to their respective Cornwall FA County Finals.

Talking of finals, I am now able to confirm the travel arrangements for The Cornwall FA Senior Cup Final between Helston Athletic and Millbrook to be played at St Blazey FC on Easter Monday (10th April 23), KO 2:00pm. Wanting as many as possible to enjoy the occasion, The Club is offering free spectator travel subject to receipt of a £5 deposit that will refunded on attendance. To reserve your seat please enquire at bar. On the day The Clubhouse and Blues Kitchen will be open from 10:00am with coaches departing promptly at midday, returning 45 minutes after the final whistle. Everyone is welcome so please encourage your family and friends to join us on what is hoped will be another historic day for The Blues.

Finally for now, should this evenings match be all square after ninety minutes, we will go straight into the tension and drama of a penalty shootout.

Please be sure to enjoy your evening, and as always thank you for your valued attendance and support.

Paul Hendy (Chairman)
