FROM THE CHAIRMAN...

Good Afternoon One & All,

It seems an eternity since I last composed my notes for a match-day programme, however looking back it was just three weeks ago.

This afternoon represents our penultimate home league fixture of the season as we welcome the players, officials and supporters of Clevedon Town Football Club to Kellaway Park. An extended welcome also goes out to our match officials Ryan Cornelius, Adam Price and Ian ‘George’ Pattison.

Three weeks of football at this time of the year can define a season and that’s certainly been the case for The Blues. Since last playing at home on the 4th March, Matt and the team have extended our latest unbeaten run to eleven matches inclusive of overcoming current league leaders Saltash United to reach the final of this seasons Cornwall FA Senior Cup. As is tradition, the final is to be held on Easter Monday (10th April), our opponents being Millbrook FC. The match is to be played at St Blazey Football Club with a 2:00pm KO. Arrangements are being finalised for spectator travel with full details being released via the clubs social media channels over the next few days.

With plenty of football still to be played, attention following today's match will turn to Tuesday evening as we look forward to hosting Buckland Athletic in the quarter-finals of this season’s Les Philips League Cup, KO 7:45pm. Tuesdays winners will travel to Ilfracombe Town on Monday 1st May with a place in this seasons final up for grabs. A full list of all remaining first team fixtures can be found towards the back of this programme.

Included in my last ‘From The Chairman’ was a good luck message to Helston U18’s ahead of their Cornwall FA U18 Rathbone Trophy semi-final verses Truro City the following day. I’m delighted to share the lads were triumphant, and similar to both first team and U16’s, will now represent Helston in a Cornwall FA County Final this season.

A final word on Cornwall FA Cups for today, good luck to Helston Women who again travel to Trungle Park tomorrow afternoon to take on Mousehole Ladies, for a second time, in the semi-final of this seasons Women’s County Cup, KO 2:00pm. The original fixture was abandoned after twenty-four minutes, with The Blues leading by a single goal, due to a waterlogged pitch.

Tomorrow also sees Helston Athletic Development squad travel to Porthleven FC to take on St Ives Town in the semi-final of The Cornwall Combination League Cup, KO 3:00pm. Good luck also guys.

With plenty of footballing action still to enjoy with Helston Athletic, here’s to kicking off the final few weeks of the season with an enjoyable afternoon for all.

Thank you as always for your attendance and support

Paul Hendy

(Chairman)
