FROM THE CHAIRMAN Good Evening one & all, Following a disappointing run of results, it felt good to return to winning ways last Saturday. This evening it’s Cornwall Senior Cup action as we welcome the players, officials and supporters of St Blazey to Kellaway Park. In addition to our opponents, it’s a warm welcome to our match officials William Annear, Neil Rudkin and Matt Probin. It is two years ago since Helston last played St Blazey in what turned out to be a nail biting FA Vase 1st Round tie at Blaise Park. Having trailed by a single goal at the break, Helston fought back to take the lead before St Blazey equalised with eighteen minutes remaining. With no extra time the tie went straight to penalties. It was finally Helston that narrowly progressed into the next round. Representing The Blues that afternoon were Ollie Brokenshire, Will Tinsley and Liam Eddy, all three of which we expect to line up against us this evening. An interesting statistic ahead of this evenings match is that Helston’s opening scorer from Saturday, Sam Carter, is dual registered for both Helston and St Blazey. Having represented Helston in the last round however, Sam will again be wearing Blue and White this evening. Away from today we have plenty of action planned for Kellaway Park this forthcoming weekend. Commencing on Saturday we return to Western League action as we host Bristol based Cadbury Heath, KO 3:00pm. Following this at 9:00pm we turn our attention to the music of bygone years as we again host The Good Old Fashion Lover Boys Queen Tribute Band. Tickets for this event remain on-sale for £10 each at the bar. Fast forwarding onto Sunday Helston Athletic Women host Charlestown in their defence of the Cornwall FA Women’s Cup. KO is at 2:00pm and admission is free. Finally for now, here’s to another cracking and enjoyable cup tie here at Kellaway Park this evening….. ….and as always, thank you for your support.

Paul Hendy (Chairman)

Focus on.... ST. BLAZEY St Blazey Association Football Club compete in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division West. The club was formed in 1896 as a Junior side, attaining Senior status in 1910. St Blazey were a founding member of the South Western League in 1951, which they competed in until 2007 when the league merged with its Devon equivalent, the Devon County League, to form the new South West Peninsula League. St Blazey entered the FA Cup for the first time in 1950, where they were eliminated in the Preliminary Round to Ilfracombe Town. The club's best season in the competition came in 1998 when they reached the Fourth Qualifying Round against Camberley Town, falling agonisingly short of the First Round. They also enter the FA Vase on a regular basis, having first competed in 1985. The club's traditional colours are green and black. The club's stadium is Blaise Park, which has a capacity of 3,500.

Player Profiles... Cory HARVEY. Cory has excellent pedigree and has attracted attention from higher league clubs. He is an excellent shot stopper & his distribution is second to none. Isaac BURDON. Isaac is a versatile defender that can play left, right & centrally across various systems. He’s previously worked with the manager at Plymouth Parkway and is rated highly. Josh STOREY (Capt). Josh has recently been appointed club captain. A ball playing centre back and an excellent leader on and off the pitch. Jordan BENTLEY. Jordan came to the club last season and has excellent experience within the game having operated at higher levels. A dominant centre back who can mix up his game. Aaron BENTLEY. Aaron joined the club at the back end of last season. He is a commanding centre back and a big threat from set plays. Aaron has a good football pedigree and has operated at higher levels. Freddie WALTER. Fred joined the club from neighbouring Wendron and has enjoyed a positive pre-season. He is comfortable in a range of defensive positions and can also offer a threat going forward. Harrison JEWELL. Harrison came through the youth ranks at Helston and shows promise across many positions. His versatility is his strength and he can operate across the defence and in midfield. Stevie COLWELL. Stevie has operated at higher levels having previously played with Weymouth, Tiverton and more recently, Plymouth Parkway. A ball playing midfielder with exceptional technical and tactical quality. Matty BYE. Matty brings a wealth of experience and quality to the midfield unit. He is a highly respected leader on the pitch and chips in with goals and assists. Tom PAYNE. Payney has joined the club at his peak from Millbrook. Last season, he capped a fine campaign by being selected for the Cornwall squad. A versatile midfielder with excellent leadership skills and dead ball delivery. Expect to see him impacting games this season.

Player Profiles... Tyler ELLIOTT. Tyler is another player that has operated at higher levels of football and has excellent technical quality to match a terrific work ethic. Expect to see him linking play in the final third. Rikki SHEPHERD. Rikki was a big summer signing for us. The ex-Millbrook man notched 23 goals from 29 appearances in the last campaign. Lightning quick, Rikki has scored 3 goals in the pre-season and will be looking to add many more. Kai CORNISH. Kai has the ability to unlock defences with his dribbling & creativity in the final third. He has enjoyed a positive pre-season with goals and assists and therefore enters the season with high levels of confidence. Sam CARTER. “Carts” is another attacking player with high creativity that can operate wide or centrally and has impacted the games within the pre-season. Nathaniel WEST. Nat relocated to the South West last season & ended the season with Bodmin. He is an athletic striker, unorthodox & therefore unpredictable. He is very good in the air and has scored a few goals in the pre-season. Jordan COPP. Jordan is one of the most technically gifted players the manager has worked with. He brings bags of experience and pedigree having operated at Step 2 with Weymouth. An attacking player of exceptional quality who can operate wide or centrally. Rocco HILL. Rocco broke into the first team last season and scored on his debut. At 16 years of age, he is displaying maturity beyond his years. A product of the Helston pathway, he is highly thought of and has an excellent future ahead of him. Rubin WILSON. Rubin was the last player to join us from Bodmin Town. He is a CF that occupies centre backs with an eye for goal and brings his team mates into the game. He has already made a huge impact in games & is developing partnerships that are going from strength to strength. Jamie SIMMONDS. Jamie is a player of very high technical ability. Expect to see him unlocking defences and impacting the game at the top end of the pitch. Jamie has all the attributes to play at this level and beyond. Jamie is really excited to be playing for Helston and hopes that this move will help him catapult Helston as well as his own football development. Teigan ROSENQUEST. The signature of Teigan outlines our ambition as a football club. Teigan was part of the Tavistock team that secured the Western League title last season. He has excellent technical ability and can break lines with the ball that is a huge benefit for us as it can change the context of the game in a moment. We had one of those moments in the FA Vase against Saltash when we scored the winning goal from one of his driving runs. Teigan is versatile and can operate out wide and central attacking roles.
