Up-and-coming news at Hamilton East Public Library.
As we transition from fall to winter, the Hamilton East Public Library offers more than books to warm your soul! Bring your family indoors and get involved with our interactive programming and activities. Kicking off November is our fifth annual Local Author Fair on Saturday, November 2 at the Fishers Library. Come visit with 27 local authors at this meet and greet event. Authors will be available for book sales and signings. There will be refreshments and prize drawings to win books and other prizes, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. Celebrate IGW with us on November 9; both the Fishers and Noblesville Libraries will debut our new Oculus Quest virtual reality devices alongside board gaming, 8-bit video game crafts, a “Play-to-Win” Azul event, and a teen/ adult escape room. There will be something for everyone! Join us in the Ignite Studio on November 21 as we celebrate the opening of the winter exhibit, “Remember.” Displaying the work of the Hamilton County Artist Association, the exhibit will be on display through February 1. On November 30, we will wish a Final Farewell to our Maker-in-Residence, Brittany Kugler, as she finishes her 12-week residency in the Ignite Studio. Look back on all of the things we’ve made together and show off your own project you’ve made from the term of her residency. December is a great time to reflect on the year and celebrate the season of gratitude. We will be celebrating with 12 Days of Gratitude, offering a variety of programs to give you all the warm, cozy feels! Contribute to our library kindness paper chain, from December 1 – 12, through Linking Kindness: A Collaborative Art Project. Write a special note, an affirmation, or some encouraging words and spread the love. Paper chains will be constructed and displayed all
month long in both libraries. Help the Humane Society for Hamilton County complete their seasonal wish list by providing much needed “wish list” items by participating in our library-wide donation drive: Stock the Shelters from December 1 – 14. Meet a couple of adoptable dogs from the Humane Society for Hamilton County and speak with representatives about adopting a new fur friend this season on December 8 at the Noblesville Library for Home Fur the Holidays: Meet and Greet with Humane Society for Hamilton County! Write to a Hero and show your gratitude for our troops, veterans, wounded heroes and first responders by writing a letter or drawing a picture! Writing stations will be set up in both libraries, from December 15 – 21, for this special activity. (Operation Gratitude sends 300,000+ Care Packages each year to Deployed Troops, Veterans, Recruit Graduates, First Responders and Wounded Heroes and their Caregivers. Of all the items included in the Care Packages, the most cherished are the personal letters of appreciation!) Be sure to visit our online Calendar of Events to find more ways to show your gratitude at the library this season. As 2019 wraps up and we embark on 2020, the Hamilton East Public Library would like to thank each of our patrons for another fulfilling year!
Thanks to the Friends of the Library! A special thanks goes out to the Friends of the Library for approving funds to benefit our library programs! For more information on the Friends of the Library as well as how to be a Friend of the Library, please visit hepl.lib.in.us/friends/. 3
