PROJECT AIM

MOOD BOARD I am looking at reference objects that have pervieved quality to help releate there colour paterns and materials into my chair to suggest quality within my own design.

IDEALISED CONTEXT I have design with the intention that my chair will be as versitile as possible. I have provided her contexts in which my chair could exsist. This could be a lounge, a corner chair, statement chair, outdoor chair or a chair in a lobby for example.

SCALE PROTOTYPING This illustrates how the frame is constructed of four main segmetns which are CNC wire bent and then welded together with either a Mig or Tig welder. This is completed by hand for this prototype and could be potentialy completed using a robot when mass produced. Robots are already used in Australian by furniture design companies to replace manual labour so this is with in reach and reasoable prediction for commercial manufacture.

CONSTRUCTION

EXPLODED PARTS This illustrates how the upholstery is made for my chair conforms to the shape of the frame. I have choosen synthetic felt as it very cheap and durable for commercial furniture and I also feel like its in trend. They can be easily removed with buttoned tabs that hold them down so the chair is easily used outside.
