You Stayed the Course Thank You!
by Ellen Timmerman-Borer, Chief Development Officer
Iwas sitting in my Hammer office at my desk last week when my phone rang. When I answered, I heard my old friend Kevin say in his distinctive voice, “Hello Ellen Timmerman-Borer.” Kevin and I met in the early 80s and he has been served at Hammer for more than 40 years, since he was a young boy. We have not seen each other for over a year. It was great to reminisce and check in with each other. We talked about our families and yes, our health. Like all of us, Kevin experienced some health challenges this past year. Like most Hammer folks, he was without work and in his Hammer home 24/7. In spite of all of it, his voice sounded cheerful. He was friendly as usual and full of hope. He made my day and I told him so.
Kevin has persevered with your support.
We are grateful for partners like you: family, volunteers, donors, and community members who give us all hope. You have persevered with us and stayed open to supporting people’s wants and needs even when you may have been struggling yourself. Thank you.
With your continued support and guidance, we will put those we serve first and carefully consider their needs as we utilize your gifts now and into the future. Thank you for your trust and investment in our mission.
Despite the pandemic, Kevin and his roomies, still found a way to celebrate Wayne's birthday with a lawn party with flamingos. And don’t forget the masks. Now, they are looking forward to a calmer summer, playing games together without masks. They may even get back to the bowling alley and enjoy a fishing trip, all thanks to you and your kind, generous support.
