Who we are HammersmithLondon BID is a not-for-profit company, first elected in March 2006, with our mandate renewed for a second 5-year-term in March 2011 We aim to provide new and expanded services within the BID area, as identified by the local businesses to improve the working and trading environment, in four key areas:
protect the area IMPROVE the environment ENERGISE the town centre CONNECT the community We work in close partnership with public bodies like the council and police but are entirely independent, funded by our BID levy payers and additional revenue streams We provide ‘additionality’ to council amenities, not substitute services And in 2012/13 we expanded our offer even further…

• Distinction in Safer Business Award 2012 • 8% cut in petty crime in Hammersmith (F&H Chronicle Dec 28 2012) • 50 people enjoyed free bike maintenance and security markings in extended Dr Bike sessions at Wise Up! 2012 • Provided 763 additional police patrol hours per month • 10 Pubwatch events over the last year • £25,000 additional funding for brand new digital Safetynet system with state of the art call recording facility. • Over 5,250 hours covered by dedicated BID CCTV Operator over the last two years • Continued our popular monthly meetings with SNT Inspector, emphasising new business focus and introducing new Facewatch scheme • Notable successes have included: successful raids to uncover stashes of class A drugs; discovery of a massive mortgage fraud offence that was uncovered through our Safetynet system; arrest by BID PC Henderson of a known family of criminals operating in the BID area; successful arrests of various shoplifters and uncovering of an organised shoplifting operation at a large Hammersmith retailer by the BID PCs

IMPROVE the environment “ The BID is always looking for ways to improve the green aspects of this concrete jungle that is the centre of Hammersmith, so more trees are a bonus…The town centre is definitely beginning to look the part.”
• 18 more companies have signed up to recycle in the past year making it an impressive 118 companies overall • c. 509 tonnes of waste diverted from landfill since March 2011 - saving 539 tonnes of CO2 the equivalent of 5,000 trees • Starry, starry night: over 100 Christmas star lights now exclusively funded by the BID

• The HammersmithLondon RoofGarden continues to be one of London’s top outside areas and immensely popular with workers and residents alike • We continued our efforts to green the area and have directed our efforts to put in applications for several funding opportunities. £86,000 alternative revenue streams were generated through our efforts • 180 hanging baskets and planters are updated seasonally and received the highest-ever award for Hammersmith from London in Bloom • Expanded our Transport Forum to offer bespoke forums to interested businesses. • c.7,000 presents wrapped as part of our free gift-wrapping offer in Dec 2012 • 90% of those who attended a Summer Festival event thought it was ‘Excellent’ or ‘Very Good’ • 89% of Summer Festival 2012 attendees had already spent money in Hammersmith or were planning to that day

• Over 6,300 residents or workers now hold Privilege Cards with just under a 1,000 card holders added last year • New Countdown to Christmas event introduced in Dec 2012 featuring an exclusive offer from a different shop, pub or restaurant in Hammersmith every day in the lead up to Christmas. 67% businesses reported an increase in footfall and 50% of businesses reported increase in year-on-year sales revenue during the campaign.

CONNECT the community “ I really look forward to every I Love Books meeting - I think it adds brilliantly to the things on offer for people who live and work in Hammersmith. I can’t believe many other BIDs have such a vibrant cultural scene”
• over 700 workers treated to free performances at the Lyric Theatre • 100% of participants in our Wellbeing Yoga & Pilates sessions regularly say that the classes meet or exceed their expectations • A fifty-fold increase in Facebook followers and an eight-fold increase in the number of Twitter followers • £18,000 worth of free press coverage generated in print, radio & online media • 39 free walks enjoyed by c.800 residents and workers over two years

• 50% increase in total traffic to our website in 2012 alone • Expanded our Book Club to successfully launch a new Culture Club • Our re-designed monthly e-news now reaches over 7,000 people. At our 2012 Wise Up! event, an amazing 43% of participants had planned to come having read about the event in e-news • Our online business directory is now fully populated on both our newly-redesigned website and on the upcoming App, which features a cutting-edge ‘Live View’ pinpointing exactly where those businesses are for smartphone users I Love Books Club Meeting
