…CLEANER, SAFER, BUSIER, BETTER CONNECTED

WHO WE ARE HammersmithLondon is a not-for-profit company, first elected in March 2006, with our mandate renewed for a second 5-year-term in March 2011. We will be seeking renewal for a third term in early 2016. We aim to provide new and expanded services within the BID area, as identified by the local businesses to improve the working and trading environment, in four key areas:

PROTECT the area IMPROVE the environment ENERGISE the town centre CONNECT the community We work in close partnership with public bodies like the council and police but are entirely independent, funded by our BID levy payers and additional revenue streams. We provide ‘additionality’ to council services, not substitute them. In 2014/15 we expanded our offer even further…

PROTECT the area As one of the key reasons for the formation of the BID, the continued safety and security of workers, residents and visitors remains an essential part of our mandate. With a 23% annual budget allocation, we provide a series of services aimed at delivering a safe and confident town centre. In 2014/15 the BID has: • Won a Safer Business Award with Distinction for a successful business crime partnership for the 3rd consecutive time • Provided 8,320 additional BID officer hours spent patrolling the area • Broadcast 13,506 Safetynet Radio transmissions around the area • Made over 400 arrests with BID security/SNT team • Had 116 of these arrests initiated by the BID funded CCTV operator The Pubwatch is important to us because we can share our experiences in a forum and work together to keep the area safe for our customers as well as our staff Rachel Ginsberg, The Hop Poles

• Provided 2,000 hours of additional Hammersmith coverage through the BID CCTV operator • Dealt with 2,095 incidents through the BID CCTV operator • 34 people banned under the Pubwatch scheme in the last year, 92 altogether

IMPROVE the environment Ensuring that Hammersmith is a clean and pleasant place to work, live and visit is of the upmost importance to the BID. We believe that it makes the town centre more vibrant and enhances a sense of pride in the area. In 2014/15 the BID has: • Provided a free recycling service which is used by many BID businesses • Diverted c.262 tonnes of waste from landfill • Saved 377 tonnes of CO2, the equivalent of 2,992 trees • Instigated a partnership with LBHF and the GLA for sustainable air quality project on Talgarth Road • Piloted a BID Ambassador scheme • Checked daily cleansing, waste and environmental issues through the BID Ambassador • Provided free Wi-Fi on Lyric Square for c.7,000 people Recycling with HammersmithLondon saves us money and enables us to realise our goal to reduce waste and recycle effectively. We save around a tonne of waste per year which would otherwise go straight to landfill. Ignatius Kusiak, The Tablet Publishing Company

• Illuminated the town through its state-of-the-art Christmas lighting • Provided free Zipcar memberships for BID businesses • Supported and promoted a cycling strategy and other sustainable transport initiatives through Dr Bikes, cycle training and by holding quarterly Transport Forums

ENERGISE the town centre The goal of our eclectic series of events and activities is to invigorate the town centre, helping it to become more of a leisure destination. In 2014/15 the BID has: • A total of nearly 9,000 Privilege Card holders with new sign ups every week • Wrapped c.2,300 Hammersmith-bought items as part of its free Christmas gift wrapping offer • Introduced a pilot Ambassador programme to better address visitor and local connectivity needs • Welcomed c.1,000 people to the area a month under the BID’s pilot Ambassador programme • Taken over 500 free photos with Santa Claus in the HL Christmas Cabin • Delivered a successful free HammersmithLondon Summer Festival for the seventh year, bringing thousands of people into the town centre I’ve been very impressed by the BID’s pilot Hammersmith Ambassador programme which has really helped to give the town centre that extra visual boost. Not only are people welcomed with a smile but they are given directions and useful recommendations. Gary Blackledge, The Broadway Shopping Centre

• Played a pivotal role in highlighting the benefits of a tunnel in Hammersmith through the publication of the BID’s Economic Report • Won the Association of Town & City Management (ATCM) BID of the Year 2014 • Responded on behalf of businesses to LBHF’s Draft Local Plan, which outlines the council’s vision for the borough over the next 20 years

CONNECT the community We are able to connect with businesses, residents and visitors using a number of tools, which allows us greater scope to engage across many different platforms. In 2014/15 the BID has: • Distributed monthly e-newsletters and bi-annual printed newsletters • Had some of its key events and activities covered in Time Out, the Radio Times and Evening Standard • Produced two new websites - one for informing businesses of the BID services and activities, the other to promote Hammersmith for workers, residents and visitors • Received more than 5,000 web page visits each month • More than 5,000 followers on social media, across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram The communication, support and initiatives, such as free Christmas gift wrapping and Summer Festival that the BID provides for visitors, loyal shoppers and staff in the area are second to none compared to the other towns I have been part of. Stuart Ede, TK Maxx

• Provided a keenly supported health and wellbeing programme including pilates and smoking cessation courses for Hammersmith employees • Sent out almost 70 e-shots informing employees and residents about deals and attractions Hammersmith has to offer
