Botox is a brand name for botulinum toxin, which is injected in minute quantities to paralyse the muscles usually around the eyes and forehead to reduce or eliminate wrinkles. What is involve in the treatment? After a consultation to ensure that there is no medical reason that Botox would be unsuitable, the areas to be treated are agreed and a consent form is signed. The actual treatment is a series of injections that take about 10 minutes to inject. How long before I see the results? It takes between 5-10 days for the effect to be seen, and a review appointment is made after 2 weeks in case any top-up is needed. The effects last for between 2-4 months. Who can’t have Botox?
