There are a number of approaches that one can implement to battle stress. Typically, people may initially pursue stress management programs, while some opt to do the simpler and more cost efficient stress management strategies such as exercise, healthy activities, and enjoyable hobbies. One great technique for battling stress is through one of my favorite exercises which include yoga meditation. Stressors are always different depending on the individual; however stress activates the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) which kicks in when we go into survival mode. Your sympathic nervous system modifies blood flow away from the stomach in preparation to potentially flee from a perceived threat. Stress also increases release of cortisol from our adrenal glands, which further contributes to redirecting energy toward dealing with stress and away from other bodily functions. This is a typical response to stressful situations and luckily this is a built in mechanism we use to survive. The problems arise when this mechanism is constantly bombarded and leaves you feeling drained and irritable.

I had a dusty yoga dvd laying around and finally decided to use it. The results have been more than amazing! I found that doing yoga in addition to my tradition fitness exercises made me feel better overall. Yoga involves classic methods of breathing controls, ethical disciplines, physical postures, and meditation. Yoga is increasingly becoming well-liked in the West even though its origins are from the East. I've even noticed that more men are joining the ranks of the plenty of women who already were practicing this well-known secret. I have also noticed that when I practice yoga I appear more relaxed. Using yoga as a stress management strategy is now becoming a highly regarded technique for handling stress physically, spiritually and emotionally. Incorporating yoga into your life has several noted "perks" that include lowered stress levels, lower blood pressure and the ability to get a good night's rest. Long gone are the days when I tried to sleep at night but merely stared at the ceiling for ours. I've also noticed that performing yoga stretches has helped relieve the tightness in my Achilles heel after it was ruptured a few years back.

While there are a multitude of strategies that you can use to combat stress, yoga contributes to the benefits of fitness programs, stretching exercises, breathing exercises and meditation practices all in one method. I admit that I also use the aforementioned practices; however you should pick what's right for you and what can fit in your schedules. If I were to choose one over the other, I would pick yoga since it seems to provide a majority of the same benefits if you performed each exercise separately. After incorporating yoga stretching in my daily routine, I have also increased my muscle tone. I think this is quite humorous considering everyone chuckled when I talked about ways to burn fat fast over the last few months. My ability to relax has also been an excellent by-product in balancing all of the negative information/news that we are getting bombarded with daily. Meditation affects the body oppositely to how stress affects the body. This practice restores the body to a state of calmness, helping it repair itself and prevent damage caused by the effects of stress. There are a ton of useful classes, seminar and DVDs that you can located to incorporate yoga and meditation together and it is highly recommended. Everyone can benefit by incorporating yoga as a part of your stress management strategies. Lastly, you should immediately identify with the psychological benefits that yoga provides.
