What’s Your Sign?
Week 1: “ What’s your sign?” We were assigned to identify tree best adjectives that describes ourselves to others, and transform those words into images which were later became different set of collages.
Quiet Friendly Beloved
I’m a simple person who is like to quiet places stay in and quiet places to thinking ideas. So I choose forest to create a model. I like carry people, help people and nice to people. I used red color to imagine love and four little people hold hand each other are imagine friendly.
Part one: create the model in the paper
Quiet Undisturbed Motionless
Secluded Peaceful Tranquil Calm
Still
Friendly Warm-hearted Enthusiastic
Passion Intimate Excited Cordial
Kind
Beloved Cherished Treasured Precious Darling
Prized Love Like
Part two: Build a model! “Constructing a 3D sign that visually communicates who you are”
Design as a Language:
Interprets forms or feelings through building and designing structures. Redesigning things so that can get better that last time model.
First sign: Materials:
3D pen pencil Water colors Scissors Tape Needle Thread Grip knife Board Compass drafting
Week2: “What’s your sign redo?” Second sign Materials: 3D pen Pencil Acrylic colors Scissors Tape Grip knife Compass Board string
I color for both side and make it circle shape. It is meaning communicate with people, love and caring
Week 3: “ A Journey of Discovery to Local Places of Wonder 1) What is the value of this assignment to your goals of being a designer? - Being able to see through things: examining the angles, situation and simplicity. 2) In the adventure as it unfolded-what did you do differently? And why? - In my pictures I wanted to incorporate the nature aspects. 3) What did you discover? - Actually waking their bring a different feeling compared to just passing by car. It is hard to visualize by car. It is hard to visualize good shots or angles that show properties. 4) Did the camera heighten your experiences or not and why? - Yes, It amazes me on how camera takes shots of such good images. 5) What is your most memorable moment of this adventure? Why? - Leaning and kneeling to get the shot that I want, and the weather that day was just perfect.

Week 4 to 8: Narrative and Related Design The brown wall have different kind of bricks. That is show how irregular wall. These have layer in the middle of the yellow wall. It is make the focus point in this area. When the door opened, you can see the three big windows in the other side. It is make people have interest to know what is behind having anything.
This one is quick study models. The materials almost use paper to create it. the first event is the circle stairs. It is the focus point and three twigs to support the stair. Second event outside of walls. These have three different space level. it is showing you have is layers.
The final model open to everyone to coming. Use layer to see different level Two side wall is symmetrical but in the little hold in the wall are asymmetry. I change little bit different before. It is more interest to visit. The second floor the walls are asymmetrical. It is helping people to hold it and making some safe when they were up. Creating are lot of exit to welcome people to come.
Storyboard
Tom goes to meet his friend, so he goes to her place. He goes to stair.
He sees asymmetry wall and different magnitude.
he sees different area and space when he goes into.
When he goes to middle of the second floor, he can see first floor in the between space wall.
He sees his friend. She walks in front of him.
They walk down together.
They visit in the back home and see the balance.
Precedence Research Seeking Inspiration Sectioning: a series of profiles whose edges follow the lines of surface geometry are assembled as serialize and parallel sections to produce both surface and structure.
Sectioning is or need to:
Five of resources. It is about folding, forming, sectioning, tessellation, and tensioning.

I am planning to do section, so I research and want to know more information about section to build a model.
Multiple surfaces Displacement Off setting Structural integrity Measuring Confectioning Accurate cutting Shapes Repetition Simplicity Asymmetry
And I also research which one is good for me to design a study model show to Jerry.
Model One:
Materials: • • • • • • • •
Paper board Scissors Glue Cutter Connection: Glue Qualities: Clean Sharp Edges
I was choosing to do sectioning project and I try to understand how to do it. First, I will try cut same prices each other. Second, I use butterfly to contrast to nature feeling. Third, I will use layering to let people seat or community.
Model Two:
Materials: • • • • • •
Paper board Scissors Glue Cutter Connection: Glue
Each piece shape is same but different size. The model is same at other side. It is look like flower. It is showing clean sharp edges.
Model Three: This time I am showing layer with stairs. It is image nature mountains. When people walk in the top, they will see the other mountain is same with them walk. I will add more same thing to make it more interests.
Model Four: The last model to do a section. When people walked in the second floor, they will see different curls around the middle. It is liking the flower hanging at the tree.
Program and site analysis:
My term build area
Study Model for Final Project The Entrance is middle the patio. The first structure is about beauty and we will design 12 feet height and 6 feet wide. We will make some little hold inside, when people see into the hold, they will see the tree like nature. Second structure is about unfamiliar. It is same size we first structure. The little different is to see the concrete faces because we look around the patio and see the concrete faces is most for people to look around, so we design to build one structure in. The third structure is around the first and second structure. It is about unexpected. We are designing to build one rectangular about 12 feet wide and 10 feet height. The different is we design inside the structure we will build the trapezoid, so each structure is about the trapezoid.
We are thinking do we need something to cover the path way, so the focus point is around the concert about journal of discovery. Life has ups and downs level, sometime may discovery something very interesting. That is life going. We are changing little idea because we are thinking how to walk by. And what kind of material we will use. And how much we can undertake to pay for, so we make a decision to change a little.

Material & Structure Exploration
Work on Final Model
So, finally, we are going to build a structure, first we need to measuring how long we have to cover the concrete and the path way. First thing, we build the base to cover the square, so people can step in. it is very challenge because we are the first time to build the 1 by 1 model. It is very hard to hold the four trestles in the same time. We hold the each side at the same time and leader to tell us to up and down. It is making us so exciting and happy hours together to talk each other. Finally, We finish build one structure together.
Final model name is A Journey Through Time We chose Courtyard Faces because of there are many existing site qualities such as faces, grid. And site condition such as flat solid ground and limited wind condition. Other factor we considered: the site is close to Batmale hall which can create a connection with our design and the hall. The curved wall and Batmale hall created a protection to prevent from the wind.

Faces on the Wall – The faces on the wall is a major element to our site so we made sure that there would be an opportunity to look at the faces on the wall during the journey. Grid lines on the floor & Planter – We leveraged the grid lines on the floor to help determine the size and location of our design. and help us narrow down our design options as well as make our design site specific. Limited View – Unlike the other sites available, our site has limited view at the surrounding. We compensated for this by experimenting with the idea of sight of the total darkness in the last structure and taking advantage of the interesting sights that we do have within our site.
Findings, discoveries, and insights What did you learn from this project? Small Scale to Full Size: Building with different materials, structural concepts (joints, weight, acceptable sizes Problem Solving: Coming up with solutions to problems that are encountered along the way Process: Time management, how to prioritize different parts of the construction Teamwork & Decision Making: Allocating tasks to different people based on strengths, compromising on ideas, make decisions effectively without going back and forth
What were the changes in design from studio to final built? Size of the Structure Placement of the Structures Form change (Pyramid to Square shape)
Iterations and variations and inspiration

Back:
This model is concept idea to build, but we will change a little be. The different is not have a path way and change materials to use before because it is over budget, so we decide to use other materials.
