Why certified diamond?

What is a certified diamond Certified diamond is a diamond that was recognised to have certain qualities that makes the diamond of higher value. That could be the diamond’s cut, colour, clarity, symmetry or other qualities. Each diamond have its own unique certification as there is no diamond like another. You might want to compare a diamond certificate to a passport. It is the identity card of the diamond.

Should you certified diamond? It is not a necessity to certify a diamond. However, if you buy diamonds for investment it is a must! Although certified diamond should have a certificate that is not older than six months. If you buy a certified diamond and keep it safely till the time you want to sell it will not be difficult for you to certify the diamond again and get the same results. You do not have to keep the certified diamond in a safe. You can also set your certified diamond on a jewellery of your choice and enjoy the sparkle while the value of the diamond rise. If you like a jewellery and the diamonds on it are not certified you could either buy it as it is for its beauty or get the same jewel made up for you with stones of your choice. Once a stone is set it cannot be certified unless being taken off the jewellery piece. What determine the diamond price?

The diamond price is affected mainly by four characteristics. If you have read our Diamond Educationsection or if you have search the web you have probably heard about the 4C’s which stands for Colour, Clarity, Carat and Cut. Although all these aspects of the diamond are important to determine the value of the stone, some are more important than others. When a diamond is set in a jewel surely a person can view the size of the diamond. This does not mean he will be able to accurately estimate the carat weight of the diamond. A person can only partially observe the colour and clarity of a stone not using a magnifying glass or microscope. What would be noticeable even to the naked eye is the level of light that is being returned out of the diamond and gives the diamond its sparkle with rainbow of colours. This sparkle of the diamond is being created by the way the diamond has been cut. That is not just the shape is was cut but also the proportion, symmetry and the quality of polish also known as the ‘make’ of the diamond. This will influence the diamond price. With this in mind when looking to buy a certified stone it is important to look at the one thing that is man made and is so important to the value and beauty of the diamond, the cut.

Jewellery Design Effects

Jewellery design and the effect on the diamond Jewellery design in general is a matter of trend. Endless advertisement, beautiful models and celebrity showing us what is the right thing to wear affects us all. But will it look as good on us as it does on them?

There are a few things to consider when choosing a mount once you have chosen the jewellery design . If your budget allows you to get a near colourless diamond, ideally you will choose a jewellery design with Platinum or rhodiumplated white gold mount. The reason for that is that diamonds “draw the colour of the metal and even high-grade stones will look yellowish when set on a jewellery design of yellow gold. If you prefer yellow gold you could set the diamond in white metal prongs, although the jewellery design is of a mount in yellow gold.

If a diamond face up light yellow the jewellery design would normally be set on anything other than Platinum or white gold as these metals will make the colour of the diamond stand out. Diamonds of light yellowish colour would be

best set on yellow gold as the metal will make such diamonds appear whiter than they are.

The eternity ring meaning

Eternity Ring Meaning – a matter of interpretation Eternity ring meaning can have a different interpretation by different people. If you heard about the eternity ring but not quite sure what it is this blog post is for you. The eternity ring is a lady’s ring that made usually of gold with a line of identically cut gem stones, usually diamonds. This is a ring normally given by a husband to his wife on significant anniversary of their marriage life. The continues line of diamonds set in the ring symbolises a husband’s never ending love to his wife.

Because this style of the ring can some times be cumbersome on the wearer hand. If this is your experience then the half eternity ring is a good alternative. The half eternity ring is set with stones only across the top part of the ring so that the area were the fingers are in contact with the ring is smooth.

The eternity ring origin The eternity ring was created in the 1960’s when a large supply of small diamonds arrived from Russia. With such a large stock came the idea to create a ring that will hold only small diamonds. That was the product but it needed also a clever marketing. One advertisement campaign aiming at the husband at the time was “She married you for richer or poorer. Let her know how it’s going.” The idea was that small diamonds are cheaper than larger diamonds but can create a beautiful ring. The ring got a name that is self explanatory but is commonly used as a gift at the time of celebrating anniversary. The H & D Diamond collection of eternity rings is sourced directly from dealers who sell to the trade. Online shop with no overheads means you get more for your money. Caring and Cleaning diamond jewellery

Reasons for Cleaning Diamond Jewellery Cleaning diamond jewellery is essential. Diamond jewellery is not something you would buy or get daily and caring for it would ensure it looks nicer for longer. If you are the owner of diamond jewellery a basic inspection of the claws is easy to carry out and practically can save your diamonds. Claws may loosen over time and the diamond may not be supported. This is especially important for rings as we use our hands all the time and the claws may be caught in material and snap. Although you might want to flash with your jewellery there are times you should leave them behind if you wish your jewellery to keep its charm. Avoid wearing your diamond jewellery when doing sport such as mountain climbing, which can rub the metal or even swimming, as the chlorine in the pool is corrosive for the metal. When storing the jewellery, avoid jumbling them up together as this would cause the metal to rub against other jewellery and damage it. Ideally you would keep the jewellery in the original packaging you got it but any jewellery box that allows separation of the jewellery would do. As long as each ring is separated, earrings are tucked individually and necklaces are spread flat on their own section you should be fine. The idea is to prevent the metal from rubbing and keep the dust away by storing the jewellery in a closed box. Jewellery that is worn regularly tends to get grease and grime. The easiest way of cleaning diamond jewellery is to dip it in a special formula for diamond

jewellery. You would be amazed by the results and your diamond will get the sparkle back just like when you first got the ring. If you are on a holiday or out and about you could use the wipes to do the same job.

Jewellery Cleaning Kit Now is the time to have a look at your jewellery. Is it nice and sparkly or could it do with a clean up?

Would you choose engagement ring with your partner?

Reasons to Choose Engagement Ring Together If you ask your parents about their engagement day you’d probably hear about your dad kneeling down and surprising your mum with that special ring she is still wearing proudly today. But things have changed since then. The Internet came into our lives and it is most likely that before you decide to buy something you would do your Internet research.

A recent survey shows that purchasing an engagement ring that more and more couples choose engagement ring together. It ensures the ring size and the design is perfect and reduces the ‘risk’ of stress of the groom. Coming to think about it, there is something very sweet about a couple sitting together on a comfy sofa with a glass of wine browsing together for the ring that she likes in an attempt to choose engagement ring. The survey also shows that customers demand more bespoke jewellery, a service most chain stores would not offer.

I have had couples coming after they were wed for a few years for alterations in the engagement ring. It was either about the design that was not exactly matching the taste of the women or for a change in the stone. In the latter experience, the engagement ring had as a centre piece a cluster of small diamonds and the wife wanted to replace it with one large diamond. At H&D Diamonds we appreciate this trend and would be happy to help you realizing your dream ring with low cost only an online shop can offer. I buy

directly from suppliers that sells to the trade and with an online shop have no overheads. This is the ideal way can get more for you money. I also offer bespoke services done by a Bond street jeweller so you get the high quality for a fraction of the price you would pay on Bond street. The princess cut engagement ring

The princess cut engagement ring have got their popularity in the past few years mainly as celebrity started wearing them. This is most popular shape after the round brilliant cut. As I mentioned in my previous post the demand for bespoke jewellery has increased in recent years. If a bespoke princess cut engagement ring is your choice are a few points to consider before pulling your wallet out. Points to consider when buying a princess cut engagement ring

1.The top of the diamond, knows as the table, is a large flat area and you want it to be either clear from inclusions or have very slight inclusion so that it won’t be noticeable to the naked eye. you want your partner princess cut engagement ring to appear immaculate. 2.Make sure the colour of the diamond is bright and not yellowish. If the diamond you have been offered is not certified and you can’t tell the difference due to luck of experience that is fine. Ask to compare the diamond to a certified diamond that is of a high colour (that is colour D, E, F). This should give you the indication how bright or yellowish the stone you were offered. You want your princess cut engagement ring to look bright in colour. 3.The proportion of the diamond is what gives the bright sparkle and rainbow colours splashes that we are so fascinated by in a diamond. It is important to make sure the stone is not deep as it not only will the light that enter the diamond from the top would leak out from the bottom, you would also have to pay a greater price for it as the deeper the stone the heaviest it is and diamonds are priced also by their weight. You want your princess cut engagement ring to have a sparkle with rainbow like colours.

4.Last but not least, do not forget to get an accurate ring size for the mount you choose. There is nothing like a princess cut engagement ring that is too tight to wear or too loose on the finger. At H&D Diamonds we are catered for the new trend in the market. We have direct contact with diamond suppliers without the overheads of a shop. You might not get the cushy sofa and the Champagne but you will get the exact ring you want in an affordable price. Call us on 0845 600 5557 and we will post you a ring sizer to get you started.

Diamond jewellery valuation

Diamond jewellery valuation - is it important Diamond jewellery valuation is an as important as buying the jewellery itself. Diamond jewellery is considered not only a product but also an investment for the future. The best way to protect you investment is by obtaining a diamond jewellery valuation. Diamond jewellery valuation will state the value of the jewellery at the time purchased and will be most accurate when the diamond is certified. Diamond jewellery valuation would include the diamond’s properties such as weight, colour, clarity, cut, fluorescence etc. It will also state the metal is used for the mount and will describe the mount and the jewellery in a way that if got lost, another jeweller could read the valuation form and make the exact same jewellery again. It would be advisable to add a photo of the jewellery to the Diamond jewellery valuation form although I have come across some valuation forms that didn’t include a photograph. But why is it so important to evaluate your jewellery? There are two main reasons: For Investment purposes As an investment diamond jewellery should be included in your home insurance policy. Diamond jewellery valuation is the only way you can prove to the insurer what is the value of your diamond jewellery. If your jewellery got lost or damaged you can replace it according to its market value. Selling aid If you have to sell your diamond, Diamond jewellery valuation will enable you to get the money your jewellery really worth. It is important to evaluate your jewellery every three years to update the value of your jewellery according to its value in the market.

Has your diamond jewellery been evaluated? Do you need to renew your valuation? If you live in the Cheshire area and in need for valuation simply call us on 0845 600 5557 to arrange a meeting.

Which hand to wear the engagement ring

Your guide to which hand should you wear the engagement ring Which hand to wear engagement ring at the time of being proposed can be a little confusing. Receiving an engagement ring shows the intent of both sides to get married but are we all wearing it on the same hand?

In the United Kingdom, Ireland and North America the engagement ring is worn on the left hand on the ring finger. The reason for that is due to a belief since classical times that the fourth finger of the left hand contains the ‘vain of love’. This belief could be based on an ancient Egyptian myth that this finger has a vain that leads straight to the heart or simply because the heart is tilted slightly to the left. In Ukraine, the ring is worn on the right hand and in Poland both engagement and wedding ring are worn on the right hand. German lady would wear her engagement ring on the left hand but will move it to the right hand after she got married. It is wonderful that we all have different traditions that we follow. Right or left hand, most important is that you would be happy with your engagement ring. At H & D Diamonds we source our diamond jewellery directly from suppliers that sell to the trade. An online shop has no overheads so you get more for your money. We will not try to convince you to buy rings we had for a long time simply because we do not hold stock. You choose what you want and we will guide you to the best of our ability with consideration of your budget. All

our products are ordered once you decided on the design you liked. Most of the items you see online can be ordered in white gold and yellow gold.
