Carmen Tyler McLendon Carmen Tyler McLendon touched countless people in her life. She made everyone feel cherished, adored, enlightened, and encouraged by a chuckle, a kind word, her radiant smile and endless patience. Her parents Helen and Charles Tyler knew that she was a special human being from the moment she was born in Queens, NY on October 30, 1956. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother and is survived by her cherished husband Mark, her siblings Rodney, Herman, and Charlyn, her children Jasmine, Craig and Sherri-Nichole, her Goddaughters Sherri and Nichole, her grandchildren Parker, Tyler, Corrie, Jordan, Kirsten and CJ. Carmen’s presence in a room always elevated the atmosphere to a divine state of pure fun and goodness. Everyone who had the pleasure to meet her knows this firsthand. Rahway was her home and she worked to elevate the community through her service on the Rahway Chamber of Commerce and as the Founder of Rahway Day. But her service wasn’t limited to just Rahway, she was an awarded NAACP member, active Real Estate board member, founder of the Floral Design Ministry in multiple churches as well as a volunteer instructor for Debt-free classes through First Baptist Lincoln Gardens, Somerset, NJ. Her service continued through her work. Many of you know her from her flower shop, The Funhouse, which was a Rahway staple for 15 years. She started A Beautiful Neighborhood Realty in 2007, her lifelong dream, and two years later she merged with Striker Realty to expand her network, meeting and touching so many lives along the way. During her 30 years as a flight attendant, first with Peoples Express, then Continental, and then United when they merged; she touched countless people with her infectious smile and made lifelong friends along the way. Now she has earned her eternal wings. It seemed her light was dimmed too early on Monday, December 14th, but as they say, the light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long. And Carmen’s light shined so very brightly. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
