How it all began...
Two Auburn students set out on a mission to get a hug from Taylor Swift.

Michael Wekall came up with the most random idea: to film a documentary on our quest to get a hug from Taylor Swift. Along with his roommates Ryan Leander and Matthew Mahaffey, they have decided to take this huge undertaking.
Challenge #1: Help an old lady across the street The boys were challenged by Taylor Swift to do a little community service by helping an elderly memeber of the community across the street. Wekall and Leander acheived their task with ease, walking a woman across the street at Toomer’s corner.
Challenge #3: Sing Karaoke Taylor’s next challenge to the boys was time based. They were instructed to check their e-mail at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 26 for instructions. The e-mail told them to gather friends and go The Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center to sing karaoke.
Challenge #2: use the number 13 in a creative way They performed various activities involving the number 13. Activities included bringing 13 donuts to a friend, 13 people in one car and a view of 13 cars in the shape of the number 13 from a plane.
Wekall and Leander updated their Facebook and Twitter accounts, inviting everyone to come join them. Hundreds of fans arrived excited for the opportunity to be apart of this.
As Wekall, Leander and more than 350 Auburn students sang along, Swift appeared on the video screen, said she was watching the karaoke performance and really wished she could be there. Then she said she had an idea and turned to walk away from the camera. First Aubie appeared onstage in a Taylor Swift T-shirt, then Swift followed wearing a T-shirt that read “A Hug for Ryan and Michael.” Swift’s band members, all wearing Auburn T-shirts, joined her for a short concert.
